Stivva Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Hi Guys, I am well aware that there are PDF scans of oily, torn and fingerprinted glovebox handbooks out there. And I have downloaded them all But I am taking those crappy PDFs and restoring them to have reprinted in proper book form. However because they have only just been scanned in willy nilly they are not their original dimensions. Does anybody have a handbook they can physically measure? I had thought they might be 210mm wide x 148.5mm tall, but it seems like it might be smaller. All the pages I have have been restored now and I just need to put it in to my layout program and make sure all the pages are straight and aligned. This is a complete 240z handbook (56 pages) and I will be offering it for sale at print cost and the PDF will be free. Also... Does anybody have a Nissan HS30 Fairlady Z owners handbook or know where the PDF is? Quote

We are preparing for another flogging of rain in Qld right now so it will have to wait a while. The workshop service history manual shows first 1000km service date 53.4.28. I think this translates to 1978, April, 28th (refer to - http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2272.html). The last filled in page is dated 54.10.15 (1979, October, 15th) at 13,017 km. The remaining pages are blank templates. There is a repair order docket stapled in the manual dated 55.4.2 (1980, April, 2nd) at 13,987 km. You can read the numbers but everything else is in Japanese except "repair order". This is an unusual 2+2 zed. I have only seen 260Zeds up to 1977 not 1978. The owners manual has the chassis number hand written on the front cover and 3 hand written Japanese characters, so I assume this is the original manual supplied with the car, but it is a 280Z manual. Interestingly inside the front cover is the publishing date - 1977. My guess is this zed came off the production line about when the 260 was ending and the 280 starting. It's a Jap import with L20A efi, aircon and electric windows. It landed in Australia late 1980 or early 1981. First service in Aust was at 17,657km (no date) and 2nd service on 1st June 1981 at 23,740km. The owners name is on the receipts and he must have been a real enthusiast to get a used import in 1981. All the manuals are in Japanese, except the one of 280Z owners manual and the Aust receipts, and are in a red/blue/white Tokyo Nissan plastic glove compartment folder, with the original salesmans business card - Satoshi Chiwata, Manager President Sales Dept. gilltech Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Scottz, sounds like your car was originally a Japan home market late-spec L20 Fairlady sometimes referred to as a '200Z'. I've seen quite a few of these cars in NZ, brought in by importers there during the late 80's as part of the flood of used 'Jap imports'. Many succumbed to rust, but some survived & were typically re-engined by their owners with L28 motors, the original L20s being a completely different engine incompatible with the L24/26/28 series. The 260s were replaced in '75 in the North American market by the 280s with fuel injection, due to emissions regulations as I understand it. Europe got the 280 as well. The 260's continued in other markets in carburetted form. I've got my original NZ-new '74 2-seater manual, & also 1 each NOS USA-market '73 240 & '74 260 manuals. The NZ & USA 260 manuals are quite different. Quote

My partner and I both work in graphics/printing and would be able to do it without causing damage. But you would have to post it down. I would happily pay for registered post. Also, I have sent Ben the PDF to host, once it is online, if you guys see any errors (apart from it being US) let me know. For example, if there should be a blank page in certain places etc. Quote
