Was it just e31 or was an e88 used as well like in US market 240Zs?

 

E31 was only used up to about mid 1971. From then on it was E88. From memory there were a couple of different 'types' of E88 used, but the variations were minor.

Lambs is correct, I believe the 260z (E88) head and possibly late 73 240z E88 was open instead of closed chamber design and therefore less desireable.
