AMZ260 Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 $8k ono - I basically want it to go to someone who will cherish and enjoy this car For sale is my beloved datsun 260z, sale due to change in circumstances I need a daily driver and can't afford two cars. The good: •head has been recently overhauled (receipt to prove) •still very original •badges and door locks shaved and car resprayed (in same colour) to give a more modern look •manual (for the enthusiast) •engine still starts first time every time •still drives a treat despite age has been very well looked after •1976 2+2 model so plenty of room for the family • has recently been tuned so is driving very smooth The bad: •intererior needs some TLC (as it would with a car this age) •some rust spots need attention (surface only) •I'm selling :'( •central locking not working on one side (needs to new solenoide) (will try and get fixed before sale) Contact details and pics available here. http://perth.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Vehicles-Motorbikes-Parts-cars-For-Sale-W0QQAdIdZ338745642 Car also comes with previous auto gearbox. This is a car that will only go up in value from here as they are becoming very rare to find. Willing to swap for Nissan Silvia cash either way, let me know what you have. Please contact me via email or SMS only will not pick up during working hours. Quote
AMZ260 Posted December 21, 2011 Author Posted December 21, 2011 BUMP! common guys why is there no interest? Is the price an issue? PM me with reasonable offers its Christmas I will be generous... Quote
boyblunda Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 I am not in the market myself but viewed your initial post with some interest. The vehicle seems well presented and should be one that arouses the interest of those that posted in the wanted to buy Perth thread of a few months ago although one of those potential buyers has since bought a car. I saw a well presented 2+2 recently sell on ebay in the eastern states for 7-8k from memory and that is possibly a price that is more likely to attract some interest that results in a sale. The WA market is a hard one to get a feel for. Some of the cars that have sold on the WAZ register listings are available to be viewed on the WAZ website - see cars for sale. I know of several Zeds that have been purchased by WA people buying ion the eastern states and driving or trucking the cars back here. These have all been two seaters. The whole desirability issue of 2+2 versus 2 seater seems to be at least as big an issue in WA as it is anywhere else. I suppose that if you are chasing top dollar for a car then it takes time to sell and that trying to sell a Zed at this time of the year is expected to be a little harder due to $$$$ being tied up in Xmas expenditures and holidays. I do feel for you here as the car looks to be an example that should arouse some interest. All the best with your listing. Sorry that my ramblings do not really contribute anything to your attempt to sell. Regards Dave Quote
gilltech Posted December 23, 2011 Posted December 23, 2011 This sounds like a really nice example of a 2+2 Z. But to be brutally honest I think 10k is getting a bit up there for a 2+2 unless everything is working, the whole car is pretty darn tidy (interior, paint, no blatant rust), & there are also factors such as good history that sets it above the competition as there's no shortage of them for sale at present. Personally I'd ease the price down below that 10k psychological barrier & also really tidy it up so that someone viewing it has got nothing much to knock it back on. My 2c worth. Good luck with the sale & hopefully the car will find another caring home. Quote
neRok Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 10k is way too high. there is another 2+2 on gumtree with efi and full rebuild (with respray) a few years ago the ad says, also 10k. my car is similar to yours, although auto and it had no carbies when i got it, but i got it for 4k. and mine had no surface rust, just a few bubbles here and there. when you strip them back, there is big holes. kobes Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 I think displaying ONO, is a cop out, pretty much any price you put on a car is ono. It is rare for a person to pay the asking price straight up for a vehicle. It happens, for sure but not to often. It seems you to me you have put an inflated price, and then will justify this by thinking people can offer you a lower price. Personally i think you're price is to high alot of people semi interested will not even put in an offer as the offer may be offending. Thats just me maybe but i feel slightly uncomfortable if i feel i have to try and beat the guy down by 20% before i even start to get into a range that i might consider it depending on roadworthy and closer inspection of running gear. AMZ260 Posted January 1, 2012 Author Posted January 1, 2012 Happy New Year all! In light of the previous posts I have reduced the asking price to $8kono. As I think this looks like general market price for a car like this. Need a quick sale. Cheers Quote
