  1. Ok thanks for that. Looks like the factory floor/seat mounts will have to be lowered to get anywhere near where I want it.
  2. Have retrimmed factory seat in car, I'm 6'4" and the seat needs to be lower, and way lower for helmet use....which may require rail and seat frame mods same as I have done to other cars. The original seat is also made for a small person and fairly uncomfortable so i want to fit something else rather than mod that. Seems fairly narrow between the tunnel and sill, what seats have other people fitted ?
  3. Problem was solved by buying a 2nd hand speedo ! I suspect the original speedo was damaged when the previous owner fitted white facias(which requires needle removal) 2nd hand speed off EBAY for $150, fitted white facia myself and its silky smooth.
  4. In your case I would start with the cable... new cable was cheap on ebay.
  5. Need a new speedo and clock, anyone have items they wish to sell ?
  6. So I pulled the speedo out, and as soon as I had it in my hand I heard the clacking noise it makes while driving/bouncing.... Pulled it apart and is surprisingly clean in side... its the magnet drums making the noise...such tiny little bushes and pins, looks tricky to fix any play in these items !
  7. Hello I'm trying to get a 260Z licensed, one of the last things to fix is the speedo, it bounces around badly so I bought a new cable... but that made no difference ! With the dash out spinning the speedo on the bench I can see its the speedo it self, I don't think it will pass inspection like this ! Anyone had this problem before ? how do I fix? Cheers
  8. I just got rid of the fuseable link mess and reg etc from my car, also fitted a subaru 85A Alt, I left the shunt in place and rewired it to have the alternator charge though it so the gauge in the dash will "work", was going to ditch the shunt, but I opened it up out of curiosity and liked the look of the design, looks beefy and protected only issue will be the plug and terminals handling the current, will see how it goes/if it melts ! Added a starter relay also.
  9. What the relays etc are screwed too with Philips head 6mm bolts is a bracket that is then screwed to the kick panel of the car... In my last post I drew a red arrow(badly) just below the bonnet release cable pointing to the bracket which is grey/greeny colour, the Philips screw directly under the red bonnet release main bracket(which is spot welded to car) holds the bracket I want to the car, I'm sure there are more screws elsewhere also which I can not see...
  10. That bracket that the relays bolt to just behind the bonnet release... looks like screwed to car/side/kick panel. Cheers
  11. Thanks gilltech. Anyone got one of those brackets they wish to sell....don't care now rusty!
  12. Thanks for the photos people It looks like I'm missing a bracket that all that stuff mounts to then the bracket bolts to the car... I'll have to try make something, which needs to not interfer with the dash going back in etc. gilltech - If you get a chance can you snap a pic that shows the bottom of the dash frame and where it sits so I can see where not to put stuff/bracket !?
  13. Ok so all those relays bolt to the side there ? Ok will try look for bolt holes etc, harness has been cut apart, joined then taped up again with extra wires so it may be a bit of a puzzle !
  14. Hello I'm trying to sort out the wiring in my 260Z, someone before pretty much butchered things to the point of extending the wiring and mounting the flasher units, aux relay, horn relay, passing relay and int wiper relay under the drivers seat ! For god knows what reason !, car does have a electric power steer column but as far as I can tell thats not really causing the space issue, the motor/gearbox of the EPAS unit is all to the left of the column. I have removed all the extra wiring and got everything to work, which was pretty painful with the wiring diagrams that are available. Anyway I want to now mount all those relays etc back where they are supposed to be, I'm guessing above the drivers kick panel/fuse box area !? Does anyone have a picture or diagram that shows where and how they mount ? Pic is where I'm at, I currently have whole dash and steering column out, it just sitting across the gear stick so I can plug everything in to test stuff. Cheers Justin
  15. Hello Cleaning up the wiring/making everything work in my 260z to get it licensed, have replaced the alt with a late model Subaru alternator and will be removing shunt and reg etc, so wanted a voltmeter to go in dash to replace ampmeter, is it a 280z item that's a voltmeter/fuel and fits ? Anyone have one they wish to sell ? Cheers Justin
