  1. Hi there, it sounds like it could be the Master Cylinder, you say you had a good pedal and then after a few pumps it starts to go spongey again, which means that you are drawing air from somewhere and you said you have done the slave already. while you had the box out for a couple of weeks was there still fluid in the hydraulic system?( i usually just pinch the line) Because with an old MC the seals can start to dry out and strink, so by the time you fill it back up with fluid its no good anymore!
  2. Thanks PB, yeah it has both the charcoal canister and pcv fitted, i think the PO had the air pump shit itself so it was removed and the air pipes blanked off.
  3. Yeah Richard, i don't think they test it, but i hope i don't get one (tester) thats clued up on the old datsuns!! But i think most mechanics will accept it as an old car and propably be suprised that it has certain amount of emissions fitted.
  4. Thanks for that gav240z, i guess i will be looking for an earlier model induction/ exhaust setup.
  5. Thanks for the advice Linton, i will try to source an early model exhaust, inlet and carb set up.because by having the air pipes blanked off looks a bit sus. And Richard- Technically if the car came out with the emissions in production it should be on or else its not roadworthy. i'm suprised so much emission stuff on a 76 car ( air pipes and air pump, EGR)
  6. Hi Guys, i have recently purchased a 76 260Z 2+2 and want to eventually get it registered, so i need to get a RWC for it. This model has air pipes for the exhaust and looks like it should have an air pump as well. The pipes for the exhaust has been cut off and welded up. Just looking at a lot of the other members cars with 260Z, I've noticed that alot of them have converted the flat top carbs to the 240Z carbs and no signs of emissions fitted to the engines. Theres no way i can do that to get the RWC? Or is it better for me to try to source the air pipes and an air pump? Thanks. Colby
