  1. Thanks for the extremely quick response! That is what I figured I would need to do.
  2. Hi Guys, I have finally finished rebuilding the set of triple 40DCOE-18 Weber carbs I picked up a few months ago and am in the process of installing them to my 260Z bus. They are on a Cannon manifold with what I believe is the Cannon linkage kit which accepts the stock style throttle linkage rod. I have hit a problem which is that the stock rod from the firewall used by the old SUs is ~40mm to long for the new setup. I assume that I need to cut and reweld the rod to suit the new setup but I wanted to ask what everyone else who runs triples has done? I couldn't find any info on this so if there is another option please let me know. Also if anyone has a spare firewall to carb linkage rod from a wreck that they are willing to sell I would be happy to take it off your hands, as I would like to keep the old rod with the SUs as spares if possible. Cheers, Kris
  3. Hi magnet, if you will ship them to Perth I will take them. Let me know
  4. Hi Wayne, put me down for a pair of 2+2 doglegs.
  5. Thanks for the clarification Peter. Dat2kman, I have sent you a PM.
  6. Great, thanks for the info. No messing with spindle pins for me!
  7. Guys, I have a question regarding the rear suspension and how much articulation it should have. I have removed the rear arms from my car which are still attached to the uprights, and I have noticed that it feels like the rubber bushes are bonded to the spindle pin. I can get approx 45 degrees movement each way from where the strut sits when in the car if I apply some force to the strut, but it bounces straight back to the original position when I let go of the strut. I was really hoping not to mess with the outer bushes and leave the spindle pins alone, but I thought I should check what you guys opinions are. Is what I have described normal operation of the trailing arm outer pivot point and can I leave it as is?
  8. Peter, do you mean that the low springs and short strut tops really mess with the camber? How many degrees are we talking? If it is enough to require offset bushes or adjustable trailing arms I might need to rethink the idea. Cheers, Kris
  9. Thanks for the pic Peter. That looks spot on. Dat2kman, that's awesome. How much are you after for the strut tops?
  10. I am in the process of replacing my rear suspension and fitting kings low springs (KDRS-09) to my 2+2. After seeing Lurch's sticky in the suspension section I am keen to replace my tall rear strut tops with the shorter front tops as I don't think that it is going to be low enough in the rear with just a spring swap. Before i go and order a set I thought I would just ask here and see if anyone has a spare set that they want to sell. Let me know what you have. Cheers, Kris ## Sorry, just realised I posted this in the wrong section. Mods please move ##
  11. I finally managed to find the time to strip the rear suspension in my 75 2+2 and can confirm that the KYB ExelG shocks with part number 361003 do fit. I have the 55mm strut tubes and assume the long strut towers (as I have the taller strut insulators). The strut insert is 5mm taller than the ones I am replacing (not too sure how old these are but they are a blue KYB with part number KC4504), but sit flush with the top of the strut tube. I took a gamble with this part number from an old thread I found on this site, and ordered them from the US.
  12. G'day Andy, congrats on the purchase and good luck with the restoration. That green is a great colour so I hope you decide to stick with it. Personally having owned one black car I would never own another one. Like Gav says they require constant cleaning and aren't much fun in summer either!
  13. No problem, thanks for the warm welcome guys. This site seems to have a really active community and lots of good info, so becoming a member was a no brainer.
  14. Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself and say what a great site you have here! My name is Kris and I have been a lover of Zeds and all things Datsun / Nissan since I was a teenager. A couple of previous cars I have owned are a 77 260z 2+2 auto (about 20 years ago) , and an 89 S13 silvia with ca18det. I have just purchased a 1975 260z 2+2 manual with A/C and am planning on a basic restoration and using it for weekend cruising. It is in very original condition (still has matching number L26 and original paint colour - some kind of burn orange / red) and the body has very little rust. The first owner had it for ~35 years in SA, so I think that has helped. I can only assume it was garaged for most of that time. It has had two owners in the last 5 years since being brought over to Perth and came with a heap of documentation including the original deposit and purchase receipts! It also came with the original steel wheels and hubcaps, but currently has 14" "jellybean" style alloys fitted. I am currently in the process of gathering parts to refresh the suspension, and it has a rusty exhaust so that will be replaced with headers and a new exhaust system. I look forward to getting to know you guys, and appreciate the knowledge this site provides. Here is a pic I found of the car at last years WA Z Register gathering. Cheers, Kris
  15. I haven't used them in a Z yet (I have some on the way), but I have used them in other vehicles and found them very good quality. I used excelG struts paired with Kings low springs on my previous S13 and they were a very good combo for the street.
  16. Yeah, I have checked their catalogue but it only lists 260z, it doesn't differentiate between 2 seater and 2+2. Seeing as the rear struts are different between them I assume that there is a difference in rear spring length as well? That is why I was hoping someone here could give me some real work experience with what part numbers fit and whether they stayed standard height or lowered their 2+2. Thanks for the reply.
  17. Hi guys, I have just picked up a 75 260z 2+2 (manual with A/C) and am in the process of collecting all of the parts I need to replace the very tired 40yo suspension. It is just a weekend cruiser so I don't want to go to the expense of a coilover setup. I have ordered a set of KYB excelG strut inserts and am currently looking at replacing the majority of the bushes with superpro gear (I am not sure if I will leave the rear trailing arm bushes alone or not - it sounds like a real job!). I am hoping some of you 2+2 owners can tell me what part numbers I need for King springs from your real world experience. Ideally I would like to drop the car ~20-30mm from standard but want the springs to remain captive at full droop, so if I have to stay standard height I will. I also don't want any issues with the shocks bottoming out and don't want to resection my struts. I have read every thread I can find and haven't found the info I am looking for - can anyone give me some advice? Cheers, Kris
