  1. Gee, its been a long time since I've been on here! I have a '74 260z 2+2. It cost me $7500 in 2009, and has since had a complete engine rebuild, running gear was all good on inspection, new adjustable coil overs. All this happened between about 2010 and 2013 prior to "life" happening. Unfortunately, life happening meant it has sat in my carport since. Now "life has happened again...Triton spat its timing belt for the second time in 4 years. Wondering what to do, and my mechanic said "Mate, your Datsun, just get it going and drive it!". So I've got a workshop[ to work in (his)...and hopefully the old girl will be back on the road come end of January! Made me think I should get back here. Engine bay pic attached form the end of the rebuild.
  2. Hi All, My 74 2+2 has a ridiculous (not to mention ugly) 13in aftermarket steering wheel. I'm looking to replace it with preferably an older wheel, or at least older looking (similar to original), and more useable wheel. I gather a 240z wheel will fit with minor adjustment to the horn mech, and that a 240k wheel will fit? Does the 240k item need mods or is it more or less a bolt on? In the case of aftermarket (ie new) I'd appreciate recommendations from anyone thats been down that road. Cheers, Phil
  3. I'm not actually a new member but thought I'd re-intro since its been so long and much progress has been made. I bought my 2+2 back in 2009 with the idea of running it for fun. The bus was matching numbers, virtually no rust and reasonably original. A leaky number six pot resulted in a mild (?!?!?!?) rebuild. This ended up being about three years and resulted in new suspension, recon gearbox as it was showing very little wear, all other drivetrain parted, polished and returned, and a rebuild of the original L26, including carbs, factory aircon etc. We made a few mods (overbore, valves, cam) along the way. Freshened up the cooling system, and didn't tell my wife what I spent. I've since moved to the south coast of WA where there are some very nice roads and will be moving my joy down here over Xmas to drive and continue the refurb. Cheers, Phil

  5. Advertising my tech ignorance but couldn't work out the pm thing. Will take the armrests if you wouldn't mind sending them to Perth lurch?
