Having one throttle plate per cyl doesn't guarantee even distribution to the cylinders in a turbo application. This is still primarily the plenums job, especially at larger throttle openings.

Hi all, Ive just changed from an early gearbox with the flange on the output to the regular slip yolk type. Because of this I`m needing a new tailshaft. If anyone has one they are willing to sell would save me getting one made. Its a 71C going to a R200 diff. The could be all the same, im not sure. Thanks, Simon

Ive done a little more research on the EPA req./vicroads website. It appears that its just the basics. Plumbed back crank case ventilation and no more than 4.5% CO at idle for pre 86 cars. It says that no aftermarket ecus are permitted in one section, but in another it says that pre 86(leaded) cars have no exhaust emission requirements other than the 4.5%CO at idle. So im not sure about the aftermarket ECU. Is this for cars/engines that already have EFI, to stop people changing to programable?? Does anyone know any more about the aftermarket ECU rules? The engine is an L28, so pre 86 aswell.

Hi all, I`m wanting to rego my 260 in Vic. It`s a 3rd month 1976 model. It was a track car that ran avgas but i will be converting it to E85. Are there any pollution requirements I have to meet? It has an aftermarket ECU and IR, im not sure if this makes a difference? Cheers, Simon

Hi all, Im needing an L series distributor to help get the Z going after 8 years of sitting! I don't need the cap, rotor button, clips or base plate. Just the housing and bottom half of the shaft would be fine. If i can find one in or near Ballarat would be great (save someone packing and posting). Thanks, Simon

Thanks ZED83, The car has the early five speed with the flanged output rather than the slip yolk. Can the the early 71A box extention housing be swapped to the later ZX 71C box? I did buy a second hand 71A box to replace the broken unit, but i have no idea of its condition. Maybe im better off puting a much later Nissan box in it and redoing the tailshaft? I`ll do some searching on here and see what i can learn about such things...

Hi all, Im from Ballarat, Vic. Ive had a few Datsuns over the last 20 years, including 1600 road and race cars, 1200 utes and coupes. I still race a 1200 coupe that i took to this years Nationals at the Island. Great weekend! I bought a good 260Z 2 seater about 9 years ago and its been sitting in the shed unloved for the last 8!! in the last 24hours i thought about selling it, but have decided to keep it for now and give it some attention. Thats what has brought me here! Im sure i`ll get some great info and advice from the AusZcar members. The car is goldish bronze(rust free) with a strong 2.92lts datrally engine. It has had some work done to suspension(adjustable wetlegs) and has a brake upgrade(volvos). The gearbox neads replacing first and is the reason i stopped driving it 8 years ago. I`ll put some pics up as i progress with it. Cheers all, Simon
