  1. This isn't as painful as I thought it might be.. but here it goes. 2. I would love to come, but I'd have to be a passenger. My z is still under bodywork.
  3. So did I, for about a day. I just decided I would save money in the long run if I just took action now and did everything I could to make her as physically sound as possible. 240z are just too good to go through such a long winded underwhelming process; so straight for the body work from the get-go! As the panel beater takes pictures of her and when I visit the shop, I'll be sure to post them straight up here.
  4. This thread will be a little quiet for now, the fairlady has gone in for a blasting, body repair and alignment.
  5. Haha! You noticed those three little horns, can't wait to hear them going. Thanks Whittie and Thriller! Sound advice that I'll be taking on board as I go along, might need to swing past Osborne Park today. EDIT: Closer inspection revealed a third horn just below them.
  6. Needless to say, I'd get a bit carried away in any hardware store! However, an air compressor is definitely next on the list and some shelving of sorts--Round 2, here I come. Tomorrow I'll be having a crack at lifting that engine out of the bay and starting to cleaning her up on the inside. I've still got to figure out how to remove all the sound deadening and just cleaning up the interior flooring in general.
  7. Thanks guys, this is all new to me. But I'll certainly be keeping an open and vivid mind through out the process.
  8. [Reserved for future posts, keeping it organised to page 1 -- Don't hate me mods!]

  10. Thanks Ray Car is safely transported with good timing in to the garage. Was quite happy!
  11. Afternoon! Would anyone have any recommendations for moving a car in Perth? Just need to transport it 30km.
  12. Ladies and gentlemen, just a quick question. Will sand blasting a 240z weaken the metal? and if I can save a dollar sanding it with whatever tools necessary, is it the same as blasting the car (albeit rougher and longer). Regards, Good kid, bright future
  13. Thank you for the advice and guidance guys It's really appreciated considering you all own a z and have no doubt experienced all of this before. I think for now I'll concentrate on cleaning her up a little, get her on the road and enjoy the ride! I'll no doubt use this forum to my full advantage here and there, as this will definitely be a work in progress.
  14. Long story short, I managed to grab a 240z in I believe good condition for 3k. It has a few obvious rust issues on the hatch window and some surface rust here and there. But the chassis has never had a prang, it's straight and there no serious damage over all. It's pretty much stripped down as well. Still sitting on good suspension, good wheels, has a stripped down engine bay with an L28 p90/f54 turbo still sitting in there, but apart from the steering wheel and dashboard, there is no interior at all. Essentially the car is rolling shell blank canvas. Where do I go from here.. One side is telling me to strip it further, sandblast it and patch up any holes and then rust protection along with primer/paint etc. The other is telling me to clean it up and just piece it back together again with a few touch ups just to get it over the pits and on the road without breaking the bank. I don't mind doing the job properly, but is it really going to cost me 10k (someone threw this figure over the table talking away to me) just to blast, bodywork (extremely minor body work, except for maybe a brand new hatch and fenders) and paint? Slightly lost.
  15. Thanks Whittie! I'll definitely have to keep it bookmarked; 11k is just sort of a ballpark figure, I know I might have more than that, but I'm not looking for a completely perfect z either, just a good starting point as you said.
  16. I could definitely see there being some confusion, heh. Looking forward to the future, nonetheless.
  17. If you could do that, I would greatly appreciate your findings! I live in Perth, and I sure as heck don't have any friends in Liverpool.
  18. Hello! I've been a huge Z enthusiast for years. However I had priorities, and could never buy one, and I could never bring myself to ask the parentals back in the day for the money to get one either. But now my priorities are sorted and I'm making a bit of cash. I know that by Jan/Feb 2012, I'll have over 11K, saved and ready to purchase a good condition Z, I live in Perth and I'm a sensible driver. If anyone who currently already owns a quality Z and is looking to sell sometime early next year, let me be the first to make an offer! Get in contact with me. Just PM on this forum. Cheers
