  1. sweet. whats the go with the thredbo trip? day trip up and back? should definitly be all good by the 20th. Sounds like fun
  2. wow, what a greeting yeah, it's the ebay one, and yeah, to earlier question, picked it up for 9,000. stumbled across it on the 3rd last day, had to jump in! I had a max bit on it of 11,000 which i would of gladly paid for it. the dash needs a bit of care, but i'm very ok with that. must resist the urge to turn it up on the way home nice and slow. will have a basic tool kit with me, and it looks like i'll be loading up on coolant. The owner tells me that it has new oil and filter, run an eye over it anyway. Can't wait to get there... been counting the minutes till i head off, driving me crazy! once I get it home, it'll be a man-car bonding session involving wax, cleaners, polish, oils, coolants, give it a good do over, then start jumping all the hoops to get it registered. another Scott with a silver one huh. I beleive i know of him. I have a friend in the skylinesAUS club who knows him. i was going to go around and say hi, but aparently the car is in for a re-spray, so had to wait.
  3. Hi all. Name's Scott, and I'll be heading off this saturday to purchase my first Z car 260z. hope to hang around, maybe meet up with some of the other z owners in canberra region, or around further out. Have been rolling through piles and piles of helpful info here, so joining up felt like a good move. First 260 i saw pulled up next to me at the lights, and i couldnt stop staring, so have been hunting for one ever since also, quick question. the car has been sitting in a shed for ages ( bout 5 years). It gets the occasional trip around ( one day rego) but not alot. It has new oil and spark plugs, but I will be driving it back home, which is about an 8 hour drive. Anything i should keep in mind, or prepare/do before the long haul? couple of pics, cheers Scott

    firewall rust

oh, don't worry, already factored in plenty of repairs into the cost, have about 4k extra for initial fix ups. having a mate take a look at it soon, then, with his tick, i shall be a very proud owner of a Z car!! just trying to get as much info as I can. Is there anything i should keep an look out for? any major red flags?

    firewall rust

yeah, it does look like the rust is more extensive than that seen. let's say for example the actual rust is about 4-5 times that shown, any idea on roughly what it would cost to repair it? i have a garage with engine hoist available to remove parts if that will make it cheaper and easier for the panel beaters, or is it better to just get them to do all of that? car trailer could be arranged.

    firewall rust

hey, thanks for the offer unfortunatly it's in melbourne there's also rust in the rear wheel arch, and drivers side dog leg. having a tricky time trying to appraise the car from here, trying to talk a mate's mate who lives there to run an eye over it. SO keen to get this Z, and accept that there are repairs that need doing, but you say it could be a whole lot worst?

    firewall rust

ahh, pic has arrived finally. says its about the size of a 50c piece, and the dash might have to be removed to access it is this a big problem? ( sorry for previous vaugeness, i had very little info to run with)

    firewall rust

oop, sorry fixed now. i'm not sure on the exact extent of the rust, but it didn't sound too severe. i'm on the way to check the car out soon. would anyone know what i'd be looking at in the way of cost?

    firewall rust

Hi all, new to the forum, but so very keen on the 240z, love it! I'm just about to buy my first Z, bank, got cash all sorted. the Z i'm looking at is in the condition i'd like to start at (paint average, interior ok, driveable) but the seller informs me that there is rust in the firewall. what's involved in getting that sorted? i'm no good with welding, so it'll probably be a shop job. what am I looking at? should i just keep looking for another Z?
