  1. I had a look at that 260 shell, its on the guys frount lawnout near bentleigh. im no panel beater but the rust in the rail looks like its gone right through. the rust near the battery tray looked to me like it had pentetrated into the windscreen plemumand /firewall, not big, but tricky spot, right on the join. and its had a hit , on the passenger side, high towards the battery tray, it looks straight, but how knows, its doable but it aint perfect
  2. thanks Mick, great vid, nice work, What did you end up doing about the misalignment of the rail you mentioned ? did you just build it up with weld?
  3. Hi people Back in 2006 warrenz posted a link from the classicz site on floorpan replacement, it seems like a good straight forward way to approach the job, so I am planning to have a go shortly, Any tips / things to watch for that arent mentioned in the post, would be great ta. heres the link http:www2.zhome.com:81/Classic/240ZFloorboards/ChrisFloorboards.htm
  4. Johnny I wouldnt be at all suprised if I got hosed with the paint price, the guy wouldnt have been the loan ranger, I was very enthusiastic back then, most of the times I didnt even ask for quotes, just told everyone to do it right, but they were very different days THEN : Partner 0 , kids 0 , home loan 0, rent 60 bucks a week shared house NOW : Parnter 1 , Kids 2 , home loan 1 Access to a few imformed second opinions would have saved me plenty of heart ache, Im sure. I think reading some of the post on the site, before I do anything might save me from plenty more in the future. ( ps I also had to buy 300 bucks worth of some hardener for the paint, if thats too much I dont want to know, its time to move on) Enough from me for now, I will keep you all posted Ta
  5. Thanks people, I still love the colour , its du pont rivera blue, Du Pont had an e type jag that colour at a trade show I went to and people were lining up to look at it, I decided it would work well on my z .It was $500 a litre and we used 5 litres , but that finish is straight from the gun, it hasnt been cut and polished yet. I know the nudge bar is a laugh, it comes off 10 minutes before I go to the rta, till then its really good to grab when your rolling out from under the car, particularly if your a couple of cans in. immediate plan is fix nothing thats not for the road worthy. then suspension and brakes, once its on the road. the bumpers arent great and wheels let it down, so they would be next.Engine last. I want to have a driveable work in progress.
  6. sorry people posted the same photo twice, couple more here
  7. thanks for the welcome I have attached photos of my car , I had a full bear metal spray on every thing above the floor pan , Before you ask , how could I come this far without doing the floor pan, I had it in a mates panel shop , the floor was next on the list, the business went under, they were coming to take the booth in two days, it was then or never so we painted it, and Ive since put it back together, so nothing gets lost. I put new glass in front and back, new seals to keep it weather tight, new dash and seat skins. Everthing engine and running gear wise is stock. Ive had it in for rwc and there wasn't much, seals, seat belts ,dash lights are dogey and of course the floor pan and rail. going to start getting back into it over easter, I'm feeling more positive about it after seeing the amount of work some of the members do without losing it, misery loves company. I will try and stay focused on the dream ( dying a poor man, with a really nice 240z) PS These photos were taken with my phone , I will try to put some decent ones on soon
  8. hi people I am a new member and thought I would introduce myself I`m Craig, based in melbourne and have a 1973 240z, that I have been slowly (very slowly ) restoring. It has taken a back seat to the house renovations for about the last four years, but finding your site , has really got me reved up again. I am a drivers side floor pan away from a rwc, so I think I might just have to make it happen. Dont know if I will be able to add much to your forums, how much some of you guys know blows me away, but again Great Site
