Hi Stevo, That's what I've figured out after a bit of research too. The problem I have is that I think one(or both) of the carbs have worn shaft bushings, hence causing the tuning problems. I have replaced\renewed everything else(dizzy, plugs, gaskets, timing chain, valve clearences etc) with no love. Would probably be cheaper to buy a second hand pair of 240Z su's than try and fix these ones, me thinks

Hi All I'm looking for a pair of the 'good' SU's to fit to my 260z 2+2. I have the manifold, just need the carbs. I acutally have British SU's, but I couldn't tune properly and the nearest carb tuner wanted $600 to set them up!. I'm currently running a Holley 350, which isn't bad but needs a tune. Please help!! :'(

Result!! Thanks Jetsob....were they hard to install?....and what did you do about painting the needles?
-
Sweet....thanks NZeder, I'll do that now. I've sent emails to The Z Store and another guy on eBay who has similar kits, just waiting for a response.

Hi All, Been doing some research, but I haven't been able to find exactly what I'm after. What I'm looking for is the white dial face stickers to suit a 260z. I know the Zed Store has them, but they are in MPH and I need KM/H. Does anyone know where I can find a set? I saw the EL glow faces that SpeedHut have, which would be awesome!!...but again, they are in MPH

Hi All I need some advice\opinions on an engine swap I'm thinking about doing. Story: I bought a rusty old 260z 2+2 off ebay a few months ago to scrap for parts. Body is gone(not a panel salvageable) but it was mechanically complete. I decided to sell the engine+auto once I got it running, as the L26 I already have is running ok. Judging by the state of the car, the engine probably hadn't seen action for many years. However, after some new fluids and gentle prodding it kicked into life. Dosen't blow smoke, oil pressure is good and compression tests were 150psi all round Foolishly, I had it sitting for many months without even bothering to check what engine\head combo it had until last night.......turns out it's a F54 block with a N42 head(not sure of the cam, though I think its stock). Now, from I can can gather, thats a L28 block with an L26 head?....previous posts have mentioned that this combo gives good compression. So here is the question: Do I swap engines and take a chance on what seems to be a good more powerful motor, or do I stick with the current tested setup?...is the horsepower gain really worth the drama of the swap? Current setup(P30 block, N42 head, standard cam) has survived a track day at Oran Park....can't remember what the compression test was but once its running again I'll check to do a comparison.

Hi All I took the Zed to a track day the other week at Oran Park and had a wale of a time, such a pity it's getting demolished Anwayz, one of the problems that arose was a large exhaust leak around the no.1 cyclinder flange. Upon closer inspection, it was revealed that the second hand extractors I put on had a warp on that flange. It didn't show up on daily driving, but obviously the track driving was a bit too much for it. I've fixed the flange, but am now having trouble tracking down suitable replacement exhaust studs The ones REPCO sell are 38mm(too small) and the factory ones are 48mm. Nissan don't stock them anymore and Warren(All Z Parts) is having trouble tracking some down as well. Does anyone know where I can get these from?

Hi Pete, What state are you in?.....I've already got adjustable shocks, just interested in the springs. What would you be asking for them?.
-
Hi All I'm chasing up a lowered set of 260z springs if anyone has them? Not after super-low, just the next lowest after stock(I think its about 30mm lower). Cheers,

Hi All, Need a little help with the following problem: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,5296.0.html

Hi All I did a quick search and couldn't find anything on this, so i thought I would post. What are peoples using at the moment for a gearbox sensor for their electronic speedometers? I have a stock 2.6L with 5sp and am looking at upgrading the speedo to an electronic item(had a VDO unit in my MK2 Escort which I really liked), so obviously I need a gearbox sensor to match. Any thoughts?

Chris 240: PM sent 240ZR : PM sent Thanks Mr240z.....I'll have a look and see what he's got.
-
Aaaaarrrrrrgggghhhhh!!!! All of these would be suitable, but I'm up in Sydney and it looks like most of you are in VIC. Not sure on the price, but I'm guessing the freight charge would negate any savings made over buying brand new rims? Does anyone know any different?
-
Hey Luke, I stayed with the solid rotors, but i don't have the original 260z wheels. Have been keeping an eye out on eBay, but a lot of them have the wrong offset(too positive)

Hi All, I have just upgraded the brakes to Hilux calipers, and now my kidney-bean mags don't fit!! I'm in the market for some cheap replacement 14" rims if anybody has any?
-
Hi All, Just wondering if anyone has done the twin downdraft Weber conversion?....thoughts\opinions? Saw this come up on ebay last night, but I haven't been able to find out much info on anybody using them. I know the yanks are into them. I have two webers from my old love, a MK2 Escort, plus a fist full of jets.....so its tempting. That, and the fact my HS6 SU's don't want to play nice http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=270403231700

Unfortunately, I only have the original Flat-top 260z filter housing...which I assume is unsuitable due to dimensions+square opening.
-
Awesome...thanks guys
-
Hi All Me again....must be getting sick of me by now. I'm looking at getting some ram pipes for the HS6 SU's I have, and I noticed there are several on the market available. Main difference seems to be length of the pipe, as pictured. Does anyone have any info\opinions on what is better? I'm thinking of using the short type so that I can still fit them under my Redline Chrome filter housing, instead of buying socks.

Ok, thanks guys

Hi All Have just updated the brakes to hilux calipers on my 260z 2+2 and have run into a problem.......you guessed it, the new calipers hit the wheels! I have 14x6 Jellybean mags, with a very flat profile on the rear of the wheel center. Luckily, I have a rusty 260z 2+2 with 280zx mags on it....and they fit ok, just not to my tastes. So the question is, is there a cheap alernative for rims?.....steelies, factory mags etc etc

Just pulled the needles out, looks like they are BAX type. ANyone have any thoughts on these

Thanks Chris Gradually getting my head around them
