  1. After a bit research I decided to work with what I have. I've decided to get my handles rechromed and get all of the stainless steel moulds polished. I got some advice from a plating place in Burwood. I had to separate the door handles by grinding off the rivets that keep it all together; from there I ended up tapping an M6 thread where the rivets go and am going to use a bolt with loctite to keep in place. They can't plate the handle as is due to the two different metals. It's going to be $30 per handle and to get the stainless polished I'm looking at $220-$290. This includes the two moulds at the top of the door, the door frames and the moulds that line the side of the roof. Pretty good price I think. I bought new rubbers for the Bailey channel and for the moulds at the top of the doors; got these from Scott's old rubber, about $130. Got some door rubbers, $90 which are really good. Getting closer!!! Marc.
  2. Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. I've ordered a bit of stuff off eBay (genuine badges) but haven't come across genuine door handles or chrome molds yet; I'll have another look. I've seen door handles from Singapore but don't know if they are genuine; states they are OEM, not so sure??? I'll try all z parts too, see how I go. I feel lost since Zworx in Mordiallic closed, I used to get all my parts off Waz. :-( Zxtra's in Altona was another good source...... memories!!!! Thanks again for your feedback. Marc.
  3. Hi all, I wasn't sure where to post this, apologies if I've posted in the wrong section. I'm looking at purchasing new door handles and chrome door molds from Black Dragon and was wondering if anyone has purchased these items from Black Dragon? They seem to be the most competitive in pricing but I'm a little worried about the quality. I tried searching the forums but only found comments on rubber kits from Black Dragon which I actually ordered earlier this year....... it's not a bad kit but I ended up purchasing additional door rubbers from Scotts old rubber as I couldn't close my doors with the Black dragon door seals..... other than that the rest of the kit is ok. I've also seen door handles on other American sites and on ebay but I'm not sure which way to go. I have a few sets of original door handles and the original chrome molds but they're not in the greatest shape and the rubber on the chrome mold is as hard as a rock. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Marc.
  4. Thanks for the warm reception!
  5. Hi fellow Z followers, my name is Marc and I've been a Z nut since I was 17..... I've been a member since 2005 but (shamefully) this is my first post. I'm currently in the process of restoring my series 1 240Z (build # 418) and it's been a working process for the last 8 years however it's finally coming together and I hope to have it on the road this year. A quick rundown of the 240Z: - Rebuilt L28 block with P90 head - 280zx turbo manifold with custom fuel rail and 460cc injectors - Custom turbo exhaust manifold - Turbo (undecided - possibly garrett BB GT28 rated to 460hp) - Megasquirt II ECU - Waiting to install turbo prior to Intercooler, wastegate, etc. - Front Vented rotors with 4 spot calipers - Rear brakes converted to discs - Custom suspension (looking at upgrading to coil overs) - Custom Black Cherry Mica paint She was in pretty bad shape when I started but nothing a little TLC (8 years worth) couldn't fix. I also have a 1972 240Z that's waiting next in line (actually purchased off Gavin many years ago!) and there is the 260Z 2+2 that started it all; to cut a long story short, it was my father's car and when he unexpectedly passed away (at the young age of 43) I decided to restore the car in his memory. It took me two years to complete and it was from this restoration I developed my passion for the Z's. I was 17 when I started the project and had it on the road by the time I was 19; was an awesome first car! Years went by and I turbo charged the 260 and did a few modifcations here and there. Sadly, she was taken from me by some MORON who decided to make an illegal uturn right in front of me...... one T-bone later and my precious Z was unrecognizable...... :-( Anyway, it's been years since I've posted on a Z forum..... and I really want to get back into the scene. I miss the daily news of everyones Z encounters/experience so it's time to get back into the scene and catch up on the missed years! I hope to get to know you all better and also participate in the events/cruises. Cheers. Marc.
