Mechanical: Running, is a daily runner and very reliable. Price and Payment Conditions: All Offers Considered, Am deciding if i should part the car out or sell it! I hate loosing a registered Zed off the road. Just seeing if there is any interest before i send it to ebay. Registration: 6 months Wheels - White RIMS in pictures are not for Sale, instead you get the Silver mag's ( original ) that are in the photo, they are only off the car as two of them are a bit Bald so i stole the rims off my white 280zx Contact Details: Best way to get in contact? PM me and ask phone. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I originally purchased this as my parts Car! , however circumstances lead to it becoming my only car 12 months ago as my mate got into some car trouble so my FORD AU had to go to him. I have used it as a daily in the last 12 months and now regretting putting it to the graveyard of parts. Plus I am way to slow at doing up my fairlady 280zed and at this rate can not keep on having to pay for three car licences! ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I drive the 280xz in almost daily as, while it was purchased as my parts carts for my fairlady zed, it has evolved into become my daily drive. The car look as rough as guts could be, even given it a few cans of $1.99 supercheap paint to hide the rusty bits. The engine, while i have done embarrassing little attention to it, is as strong as ever was. ( Just drove it to kalbarri 350km return trip two weekends in a row as old man is building a shed). It starts so easy each morning and runs flawlessly it makes me remember why i love the l28 engine. While it is a very reliable car, it is begging for a good service, as it was my parts car i spent no money in maintenance and it is starting to get a bit sluggish, but to be fair i have not even pulled out the spark plugs. What i can guarantee is that it leaks absolutely no oil, Looses no oil. It uses no coolant, and in trips to kalbarri the engine never got above warm. for the last 6 months it has been my daily drive. The little girl is starting to blow a concerning bit of white smoke on start up in the mornings, however this disappears quickly and have put it down to more than it needing a service more than anything. And when it kalbarri last weekend, lent it to my mom to nick down the shops, she not used to driving a low car, and hit the speedbump of the anchorage caravan park doing about 20k's. This has the desired result of doing damage to the exhaust i not been brave enough to look at yet, but given it the sound of a super mod speedway car personally myself i would drive it to Perth tomorrow, although to look at the car not many people would agree with me if any, my only problem would be risking getting a canary on the window! kobes Posted November 3, 2010 Author Posted November 3, 2010 Due to my TOTAL OBLIVIOUS attention to the fact that the 280zx was brought out with a 2lt engine from the Japs, On closer inspection it has been brought to my awarness that this car is a Jap import and has only a L20 Engine! You Would think a person might have noticed a little thing like this over the last 18 months of driving it! like seriously whats up with that a 2lt 280z I almost embarrised, time to go off and buy a proper zed Quote
kobes Posted November 4, 2010 Author Posted November 4, 2010 apparently some people have pm'ed me explaining the can not see photo's on facebook so i will try to upload some to here Quote
kobes Posted November 4, 2010 Author Posted November 4, 2010 Some more photo's taken to shown some - rust around the tailight - the dash and interior - under the hood etc Quote
kobes Posted November 4, 2010 Author Posted November 4, 2010 a few last photos. Including some close up of the worst rusty spots. and the wheels that come with car Quote
kobes Posted November 5, 2010 Author Posted November 5, 2010 The yellow 280z is getting a decent run this weekend fellow forum member C210_Skyline is in town and some-what car-less so have offered to lend him the car to hoon around in on the weekend. Unfortunatly this is his first experience in a ZED, an unfortunatly I am unsure if many people would want there first experience to be in something that has had a hard life as this poor Girl, But to give him total credit, he seemed to have a optomstic look and enthusaism to get behind the wheel and have an opportunity to have some wheels. Good News - all lights tested and work along with indicators, horn and power windows - as expected, even thou car been idle for two week while i been over east for two weeks she fired and idled first pop of the key. Bad News - Looks like the speedo Died... I have some hopes for a recovery thou, but a few light taps not seem to fix it and it seems to only go has high as 20km p/h - While i have been blaming the extra noisy muffler on my Mum, for hitting the speed hump hard, on closer inspection, I may have to blame my brother in law, it seem the holes seem quite uniform and close together, and somewhat drill bit like size... it may be a little bit of practicale joke revenge. kobes Posted November 11, 2010 Author Posted November 11, 2010 Lent the car to a fellow forum member on the weekend, He has better photo taking skills than myslef, so stealing one of his photo's to add to the site. Quote
kobes Posted November 12, 2010 Author Posted November 12, 2010 Looks like the car may be sold... Have person comming over on Sunday to pick it up. Ended up just telling the guy he could have it $500, which is not too bad for a licenced and running zed, He had the excited and enthused look in his face, and if i go by the amount of times he has called to make sure i hold it until sunday should be a confident indicator. By the sounds of it, it is going to end up in Perth, with a V8 and a manual conversation so could be the possibily of a l20 engine and auto box floating around sometime soon in perth if he not have another use for them. boyblunda Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 Hi Kobes Your purchaser got a good deal on your car . Even if the body was beyond redemption the desirable and easily immediately sold parts will easily realise the price he paid for the car. From your own point of view we can appreciate the sadness of a car that runs well but where the body just cannot match the life of the rest of the car. I once drove a 280ZX around Tasmania and it was a great touring car. I hope we are not going to lose you from the forum. I personally liked the enthusiasm that showed in your posts and kept on thinking that if you liked the 280ZX, you will love what an S30 2 seater has to offer. Unfortunately good quality 2 seaters rarely hit the market in WA so it is a matter of being patient and waiting for something with a good body to come up, or looking to the eastern States where there is more to choose from. Good luck with your Z future. Quote
280zxin Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 hey Kobes, Wow. i would not of expected the engine to be in such good running condition. Thinking at this point to find a shell 280zx to do swap See ya later on this arvo. Charles Quote
kobes Posted November 14, 2010 Author Posted November 14, 2010 Charles, a good suprise to see you found your way to the forum, Lots of useful information to be obtained if you go the way of trying to get things done on the old girl. Honestly you will get a crap load more HP out of the engine with a tune, plugs and oil change and no doubt a clean airfilter. As it was my spare parts bin, not much love has been giving in maintance, and while agree it pulls strong and is bullet proof, it would be very simple to improve. or you could also go down the path of parting out the leftovers if it going to perth as you planned, Down there i would be suprized if people would not be interested in some parts ( ie wheels, glass and running gear) i thought of doing it, but from geraldton your captive audience is diminished. kobes Quote
280zxin Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Forgot to mention. key is in the letterbox. and the left back tire valve has gone bung not to worry. Yer 1st thing will be softening the F1 exhaust and then CAI and the service could wait a while since the oil looks really clean for a 31 year old engine. Ive been asking around a few different places n such and id say although it will be a large task im going to try and restore the original body. in terms of engine depending on how much i could get out of the L20 i might go down the track of a Vh41 or a RB20 1st thing will be fixing the body work tho. Question is it cable or electronic speedo? Anyways ill come see you tomorrow and organize stuff Charles. Quote
kobes Posted November 14, 2010 Author Posted November 14, 2010 cable speedo. do not think much is wrong with the one currently in thou, I imagine it could be something simple as it has just gone bung! not had the time to look yet! but there are quite commmon spare part that also seems to being offered in the foroms quite frequently. You are a brave, brave man if you intend to try and fix the body work. but the exhaust is a must do if you want to keep a low radar. Quote
