Corsa224 Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Would these covers suit the 240's and 260's? if so they dont appear to be too expensive and look cool http://www.driftshop.com.au/diff.htm Quote
dat2kman Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 The moustache bar stud mounted hole spacing is incorrect, the bar needs to be redrilled, this can cause cracks and the bar is weakened. Other option is to look at a custom moustache rear bar replacement, ie AZC, and redrill the stud mount holes, after filling in the existing. The diff cover plate itself bols up to the longnose R200's save for a couple holes misagligned, requires welding, redrilling and a true up skim of the face to ensure good sealing. You can then tap in AN dash fittings to run a cooler, using a Jabsco Water Puppy pump and oil cooler. Serious race use only, very! We had a tapped stock r200 cover on rhe rally Z with cooler setup, it needed it very much!!M Quote
Johnboy Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 I like this one... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Perrin-04-07-Subaru-Impreza-WRX-STI-R180-Rear-Differential-Cover-/230706501592?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item35b72dd7d8&_uhb=1#ht_1701wt_1001 John Quote
Mr Camouflage Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Neither of them will fit, due to the rear suspension transverse link that holds the back of the 'A' arms together. There is no room for the finned area of the diff cover on a standard 240/260Z. See this pic, item number 3. http://www.zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/240ZRearTransversLink.jpg Note: this is the early 240Z before they moved the diff further back, and closer to the transverse link to reduce the angle of the driveshafts. To use a finned cover you would have to do something like this: http://arizonazcar.com/diffmount.html As dat2kman said, tapped standard cover and a cooler is the cheaper option. Also, not too sure about the legalities of fitting and AZC rear end in Aus. Mr Plod may not be too impressed with all the bling. Talk to your engineer or relevant government authority before ordering, if planning to use this on the road. Quote
