drzoidberg Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 hey all, does anyone know if the l28 injection system should run well with only the AFM, coolant temperature sensor (ECU), distributor signal and throttle position sensor? cheers fellas Quote
Zeddophile Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 I'm a bit tired tonight, so maybe I'm missing something, but what other inputs are there? I think you've covered everything IN an L-jet system.... Although I'm wondering why you've written (ECU) after coolant temp sensor. Are you chasing a fault, or just planning ahead? Quote
drzoidberg Posted December 9, 2012 Author Posted December 9, 2012 Yeah i am chasing a fault, i rebuilt an enigine that had sat for years. and removed the some of the pollution stuff like egr and BCCD (i think thats what its called) i fitted an rb30 throttle body aswell. With the temp sensor, there is three from memory. One for the cold temperature fast idle anothe for a gauge and the other for the ecu. The engine seems to be overfueling, plugs carbon up bad quickly but i havnt run it up to temperature much. Im thinking the AFM is a bit dodgy, ive read that this type of afm can develop worn spots giving ecu bad signal i tested it for resistance (found two pins that changed with flap movement) and observed the resistance to rise and fall. Im not sure but i would have thought it should give a linear change of resistance. It has been getting a little better with injector cleaner. Quote
dat2kman Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Graft the TPS from the 280zx onto the rb30 throttle body. The internal signals from the rb30 TPS are incorrect for the 280ZX ecu Also chase for continuity all wires, if using a tired cracked 30 plus year old ZX loom, they can get up resistance if handled roughly on any engine swaps. Checked all plugs to injectors, correct settings? Had injectors fliwed and cleaned? They will run quite fine with all emisdions crap removed/blocked off,,,, on a racetrack!!! Quote
