U Joints.. dont want to convert to CV's

does anyone know how much can the U joints shafts can take in the 280zx? i wanna keep these as im still running NA but not sure how much abuse it can take anymore.. is there a place that makes reproductions but stronger?

Forget about them, they'll be fine, unless your going 3.2 litre on triples with LSD and 245 wide tyres.

 

If it is a worry, scrounge for some that do not have the grease nipple on the uni.

The thread machined into the cross is a stress riser, and can fail.

 

The half shafts out of 240k's or 1600's, 180B's are all nipplless.

i have 2 one has the l28 and the other rb25det neo. just working on the NA for street/track. thanks for the info dat2kman, 180b i reckon are more easier to find

Hardie Spicer do a heavy duty uni joint.  I've run them with 266rwkw and 9" semi-slicks.  Destroyed several gearboxes but never had a problem with the uni joints.
