tir33d Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Well, finally got my 280zx going again today for the mountain straight hill climb. Had 2 runs in freezing conditions where traction of the line was a huge issue. I was doing roll on burnouts on the way down the hill when I heard a horrible sound. Next time on the throttle then car was launching sidewards with easy wheel spin. Yep popped a stub axle..... Here is where it gets difficult, I am supposed to be heading to Wakefield on Tuesday. What I want to know is if the stub axle on a r180 (fitted in my other/spare 280z) is the same as the the r200 in my zx. I know the cv shafts are wrong as they are the uni type, but I have a feeling the stubs are the same. Kinda screwed as both cars arenat the workshop and my wife and daughter require a bit of my time. If the are the same i am ok, if not I may need to run to Sydney tomorrow. Anyone know Quote
tir33d Posted August 27, 2012 Author Posted August 27, 2012 A ha..... Spoke to Carlos this morning and he led me to believe that my 280z with r180 would be the same. Spent half the day under the spare car and thank god, it worked. Had to use the flange from my old diff but spline counts were correct for stub. New bearings, new stub. Good to go! Now I have to manage a 1.05.5 or less tomorrow at Wakefield, my mate did a 1.05.8 last week.... Quote
