I have ground control coilovers, mate its way too complex for me and i recommend you talk to a pro and they will probly tell you to buy local since there are companies selling the threaded sleeves here in oz.

The macpherson strut gets cut and made to the correct length and rewelded. They make a perch where the cut was where the threaded sleeve slides down to and rests on to stop it from going to the bottom of the strut.

This doesnt sound complex but it is, due to getting the right length and straight strut etc. You will need custom shocks or a shorter one from a different car.

As for MR2 is that in reference to shocks or macpherson struts? Im using 260 mac struts and custom bilsteins rear and koni fronts.

Where abouts are you? Im in Canberra and I can give you the number for the guy who did my suspension, but i warn you he is very hard to get a hold of by phone.

mr2 strut inserts he means, shocker cartridges.

i think he may be US based also. referring to the 280z not ZX,

just a guess

the strut budy shortening is to allow or regain suspension travel on lowered cars. you cut the strut and re-weld (only to maintain the thread to hold the inserts in however) the perch is not normally moved if you keep the stock type lowered springs.

how much you remove is up to you, but is best to have new inserts in hand before cutting, as you slide the insert in the stock strut and measure how much it moves, or you can use a packer or sleeve to take out this slop instead of cutting and rewlding.

long story, there is a good writup on http://HybridZ.org

best of luck
