260z.76 Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Hi there my name is steve This will be my first project blog so bear with me it wont be the best worded blog but here goes Ever since i was about 13 iv been in love with old school classic cars Im now 18 and currently own a 1976 260z 2+2 its the goldy brown( not sure the real name for it) with brown interior It is my daily driver i drive it everywhere i love it Right now i havnt got funds to do alot to my zed but its in great condition as it is. It has no rust (from what iv found been over with a fine tooth comb) its basicly standard i baught it back a few months ago. The first zed i saw was a black 240z that drove down the street i work in up in north brisbane Once i saw that car i said i needed to save for one And not i have one I had been looking for about a month and only found a few out of my price range I sorced it off ebay from a older guy that had kept it away for many years hadnt been registered for a couple of years (2004) i think after finding it on ebay at 11pm i called him the next morning at around 7am went to see it at 8 (was only a 15 min drive from where i lived). It was in a shed all dusty but it looked beautiful he started it up and it ran amaizing it was perfect and after talking for a while i had offered him 5000 for it and all the parts if i got it out of his hair asap he agreed so 3 days later i got my dad his land cruiser with the car trailer i drove my mums kia with a trailer got there and we nearly had to make 2 trips for all the parts It came with nearly every part from a 76 2+2 bar the shell ( disapointing cause i would of rebuilt it) once i got it home i took it for a drive down the road for a spin it was great the motor was strong with only 140k on the clock the auto box changed smooth and the diff was great The paints not the best as he resprayed it and it didnt turn out the greatest but it still looks great ( come on a zed in any color or even banged up looks absolutly great there just beautiful) The front breaks were seized but we got 2 calipers from the parts ran kits through them and they turned out great Then we took it to get a road worthy but it failed needed new passenger seat belt and the emission control set up. Once that was all complete she passed since then iv had the from windscreen resealed as it leaked bad there wasnt any rust under the window i was happy After driving her around for a few weeks i started to lay out a plan for her but no funds = no parts so all she has right now is a new sterio as the old one was buggered The tail lights are blacked out looks pretty good to me ill get some photos up as soon as i can There not much to this story but ill update it as i go along Also in progress ill tell you about my xc gs i had loved this car for years and my sister baught me a mint one a real gs rally pack with next to no rust (front guards only) got new ones to replace them it runs great starts first time right now ots completely striped no interior carpet front guards grill lights and im prepairing for painting ( my uncle paints cars and airbrushes them) ill be getting him to paint my zed in the future My xc will be going a dark silver with the gs stripes down the fluted bonnet its on gas so will be cheap Trying to get her readdy for the road so i can pull the zed back off to get some work done when i have money (flares, wheels, ect) Alot of the 77 parts are for sale im not sure of whats all there just thats theres alot Ill be keeping the spare 2.6 to drop it when i rebuild the matching no motor or save for a rbdet or Ldet Ill keep this posted on my progress as for both cars You may not wanna hear about the xc but its a classic and still good to look at and can tow the 260 anywere to take both of them Photos will be up as soon as im able to get on the computer ( using iphone ) Well thats all i can think of typing if you have any questions or advice for my zed would be great Thanks for reading Steve Quote

kobes Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 awesome post an intersting read. "blood heck can't believe ya typed all that on the iphone! Will love to see some pictures of both ya beasts, and the progression as you mould the car into your own. And just remember the zed is basically already the shap of a small subwoofer box and you can never have enough bass. Quote
260z.76 Posted January 17, 2012 Author Posted January 17, 2012 Hahabi agree bass is good Ill take some photos today and try and get them up in a day or 2 As for the next thing ill do to the zed soon will either lower or front airdam. But iv got to get the xc on the road asap So i can stop spensing money on it and start doing more mayjor mods on the zed (eg flares) but as for now qll my money is on to the xc which is alright but would prefer the zed but i love both the cars to much to part with Yea took a little while to type with my iphone but its all i get to use only sometimes get to use the laptop so im all used to it Quote
Retro Z Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Here's a link I have to install fender flares. http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php/topic/47525-how-to-mount-them-there-zg-flares/ As for the pros and cons its really up to what you want. Some people say it can devalue a car..but even though it may be hard it can be reversable. Personally I have them for my car and I reckon they look 10x better with them on, adds abit of width to the narrow Z and adds character, but each to their own I guess Quote
260z.76 Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 Thanks heaps ill be runnin flares once i get my rims and can pull the zed off the road for a while I also got some painting done on the xc today the front end and engine bay area all gloss black it looked great but had to cover it up cause it started raining the xc just needs the doors changed to the ones im using and the body can be painted the guards and bonnet will need to be sandblasted as they have bad case of crows feet and what not So once there done can be undercoated and painted then its just the in side to be done black the the interiors ready to go in Just then need to put in the new bushes and ball joints and shes good to go pretty excited to get the other classic on the road not a zed but it still looks good Quote
