perrin_07 Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Hey guys, Seems like my alternator is not to flash, it hovers about 11-12 volts. Been told can POSSIBLY get it fixed, but id rather see what other options are available. If any1 has one let me know, will be very keen. Doesnt have to be a new flash on, as i will have to get a new big one when i install my car audio gear anyhow. The SU carbies are causing some issues. Theres alot of smoke and he believe its something to do with those(he doesnt wanna touch them cos he hasnt had experience with them). The engine is also leaking a bit of oil which he believes will result in the smoke. He has said it will probably need a tune. He has mentioned a guy he knows who does this, but id rather bring it to mention here. Does any1 know any1 around the Traralgon/Morwell area who do it or will have a look at it? Naturally payment will be involved and the joy of working on another datsun and teaching a new guy ! Scoota G Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 I still have my reconditioned alternator here. Swapped it out for 120 amp holden unit. Quote
perrin_07 Posted September 27, 2011 Author Posted September 27, 2011 hi scoota, would u be willing to part with it and cost etc etc? Benny, i have heard nothing but good things with the person u mentioned(due to this site). But with the issue he had with theft awhile ago, i dunno if he would trust me taking my car there? Quote

perrin_07 Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 massive thanks to scoota, being nothing but a big help with the alternator! Quote
Scoota G Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Ahh good squishy, gotta love express post. You'll notice it has a chrome pulley which isn't stock but does suit the belt profile. Either that or you can swap it out with the one off your old one which i would suggest. The old one is on my 120 amp alternator. Quote
lightmaster240z Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Steve Mate there is only one person you should take your car to and that is Peter and if are not sure come by my shop and we'll go for a little ride. As for the safety of your car at Peter I would not be the slitice bit concerned about that at all. Regards Bruce PS I live around the Corner in Franklin Park or at the Lighting shop in town just up from JB Quote
perrin_07 Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 haha yeah i realised all about peter after i had it booked in at this mechanic. Hes being awesome with me, and he has admitted there are a few things he cant do since hes not a specalist on those engines so hes being honest at least. I have just left my job so i was gonna catch up with peter cos it has to have a tune, so regarding funds im gonna try catch up with him. I have being meaning to catch up with you lol. The last month (before i left the bakery), we had 3 people leave so there was just so much overtime. Im going away for a few days till about thursday/friday so ill call into your shop then . Cheers for that Scoota, im sure to have more questions regarding alternators when my audio eventually gets put in Quote
