FrankenZed Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 As some of you may know I'm pulling the 280zx apart with the engine destined for my 260z. I just have a few questions, Are the electric windows in the 280zx worth saving? (Does anyone buy them) Is the rear-end (subframe/diff etc) worth saving? Does the fuel tank from a 280zx fit into a 260z? Is the suspension from a 280zx compatible with a 260z? Any help would be great. They're probably questions that have been covered, or may just seem stupid, but any help would be great! Thanks. Quote
. Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 The direct answer to all these questions is "no" However the suspension may be worth selling as the 1600 boys sometimes use them....god knows how. Quote
FrankenZed Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 Ah k, thanks. Just trying to see what is worth saving before I take to the parts car with an angle grinder so I can take it to scrap metal. Quote

And if it's the later version with the CV jointed halfshafts, I'd keep those too. The rest, probably not. Quote
FrankenZed Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 How can I tell if its a R200? will it say? What parts ARE worth saving? Quote
RB30X Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 R200's look like a stop sign as apposed to an R180 with a more rectangle rear cover. Keep the diff, brakes, master cylinder, stub axles and half shafts. Quote

FrankenZed Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 Cheers. I wont cut them out with a grinder then. Looks like its a R180 diff too. Quote
Six_Shooter Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I think all 280ZXs had the R200. Here are a few pictures to compare with: R200: Beside an R180: Installed in a 240Z: Quote
FrankenZed Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 Yeah its a R180 as the 280zx is auto. Guessing the auto is only good for scrap? Quote
