RB30X Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 Hi. My R200 has a slight wirr on deceleration so I thought I'd open here up one day and check the backlash etc but all the info I have is for factory diffs. Does anyone have some info on shims etc required for setting backlash in these, and what oil are you all using in yours? Brands as well, but mostly after the weight you're using. Cheers Quote
haul Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 Hi Tim, I use NULON SAE 90 which is API spec GL-5 / GL-6, it meets all euro, aust, jap, brit, usa specs, I use it in the skyline as the Z is a non lsd r200, you know what r31 diffs are like, it quietened it down a fair bit. Cheers Tony Quote
RB30X Posted December 26, 2010 Author Posted December 26, 2010 Yeah I grabbed some Nulon 90 weight today for it. I jacked it up and had a look under and OMG, they don't make it easy do they. You have to dis-assemble half your rear end to get the rear cover off. Looks easier to pull the whole diff out. I'll tackle that another day, as while I was under there I thought I'd check my rear strut condition and they are shagged so I'll replace them first. Quote
DAT392 Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 After getting my diff pulled apart and checked and putting the diff back together, the diff guy told me to use any lsd oil so I used nulon lsd oil and then to drain it and run castrol full synthetic lsd oil which I will do next week. Not sure why but ill try it.
