RB30X Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Due to the LS1 converison I'd like to convert my factory gauges over to Autometer ones. I've pretty much found out all the info I need on where to get signals from etc, I just need the gauges. Does anyone know of a cheap place in Australia to get them from? I don't just want to walk into Autobarn or I'll be up for $1000 worth. A wholesaler or someone how knows someones who works somewhere etc. Failing that it looks like they might be cheap if I buy them from America. Thanks Tim Quote
PeterAllen Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 If you specifically want Autometer gauges I can't help but if you simply want different gauges you might want to consider making your own dial faces. I am making my own fibreglass dash with Smiths gauges out of an old Jag and I have made my own dial faces. I just scanned the Jag faces and, while keeping to the calibration marks, made the images I wanted on MS Word. Print the new faces on photographic paper and either stick them on the old faces or make new blank sheetmetal backings and stick them on. It works on the 50mm gauges just as well. I dare say you could make new faces for the Datsun gauges. Quote
RB30X Posted July 17, 2010 Author Posted July 17, 2010 I specifically wanted the autometer gauges because they can run off the signals from the LS1 pcm. Where will those gauges get their feed from? Yours is LS1 also isnt it. Quote
PeterAllen Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 Tim - Chap in Qld is doing my wiring (Steve at Killa Kustom Kables) and he tells me there is no problem at all with the signals for the tacho (V12 to V8) and speedo. I'm getting him to do the wiring from the headlights to the taillights. For the oil pressure and water temp I'm using Jag senders. Quote
RB30X Posted July 27, 2010 Author Posted July 27, 2010 Just had a heap of gauges arrive from the US of A. I got them for less than half of what they go for in Aus. I also was researching another gauge and found something interesting on the autometer site: http://www.autometer.com/ http://www.autometer.com/summertachsale/ They are rebating percentages of the purchase price as a sale. Get in now if you ever wanted to buy some. Quote
