stevofoxono Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 Hey all, Thought id ask another noobish question buuut I have a pick thats re-ignited my interest. http://www.inlineperformance.net/projects/adadson/1981%20Datsun%20280ZX%20(32).jpg Just like the yellow 280 that is on the forums except it uses the existing bumper, just cut. I'm interested in getting a front spoiler from benZ but kind of only if i get the catfish mouth of the s30s. What do you guys recon and any other alternatives that you'd suggest? If I decide to through with it after my rust repairs i'll start a 280 body thread thinking about curving the roof line also lol Quote

I have a brilliant mechanic/panel beater fairly close to home, has a v8 4wd silvia and 1000hp vg powered road legal sil+the original fairlady roadster and more nissan/datsuns than you can poke a stick at. So mod plate/getting the right effect shouldn't be to hard. The next z I get i'll keep original, i promise Quote
stevo_gj Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 I wouldn't use weight reduction as a reason for chopping bits out of the roof hey. If it's a mod for aesthetics go for it - but consider the structural effect it will have. I would suggest maybe learning to photoshop a little - easy to do. That way you can work out how you want it to look and see if it will work. Quote
Quandary Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 I don't see the point, not even for aesthetics. The roofline remains the same. It just looks like someone was ashamed of their Z and tried to make it look like something else. If it's for saving weight there are 101 better options. I'd like to see that in a wind tunnel cos its going to be funny to see how much less downforce the rear spoiler has with the chopped hatch. Wish I had that paint job though. Quote
