chris240 Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 did anybody read the article in todays Daily telegraph (NSW) where Carlos Ghosin head of Nissan worldwide said the next Generation Nissan Zed will be powered by a Mercedes Benz diesel motor ?? Its apparently a done deal. Mercedes & Nissan struck a deal where Merc wanted Nissans Electric motor for some of its cars, and Nissan was quite happy to receive the Merc diesel as far as the deal went.. The pic of the purple Zed looked very sleek... Quote
Stivva Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 http://www.autospies.com/news/Next-generation-Nissan-370Z-to-use-Mercedes-Benz-engines-54832/ got one Quote
Paulzie Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Another link. http://www.motorauthority.com/blog/1045808_next-gen-nissan-z-car-to-sport-mercedes-benz-power Interesting.. So "as it stands" it could be a 350z?? Quote
chris240 Posted June 4, 2010 Author Posted June 4, 2010 one thing I hate is the quality of Aussie diesel fuel is quite average as compared to the highly refined european diesel. yep thats the pic that appeared in todays paper.. Quote
sco_aus Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Yeh and dont believe that the Caltex Vortex diesel fuel is any good, I get less Ks and more black smoke than with any other diesel fuel... Quote
Quandary Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 Maybe they should opt for the Diesel petrol hybrid that Merc are toying with, and Nissan could put together 2 of these and make a 3.8~4.0L 8 cylinder Z. To me it seems a more natural progression. Quote
ricardo Posted June 11, 2010 Posted June 11, 2010 Haha, it sounds pretty odd at start, but some of the modern diesels out there make a lot of sense for a small sports car. Okay, so most of them sound like crap, but the performance is often better than a similar sized petrol engine. Its a shame that Nissan didn't choose the BMW 3-litre twin-turbo diesel inline 6 instead. It sounds great for a diesel, and makes around 210kW stock. Plus there is massive torque and respectable fuel economy. And if that's still not enough there are always those Audi V8 and V12 diesels to choose from.... Quote
