mightymax Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 Hi guys, My name's Max and i bought Dimitri's old 2+2 mid last year. My plan is to use the car as a learning curve, ie try a bit of body work, paint and mechanical. And i hope to use it as a weekender and have it registered in a couple of years. i've been on the forums for about a year, just trying to soak up as much info as i can but i thought it's time i introduced myself and also i have a question... Over the last few months i've been stripping the car and i thought its time i start tackling some of the rust issues. My main concern is the front drivers side, where the car has previously been in an accident. At first i thought it was surface rust but after grinding it away i've found this dark pitted stuff. I'm just wondering if it needs to be cut out or if there is a way i can successfully treat it? Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks Quote
Sirpent Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 Welcome, K&H Rust converter will prep it, available from most auto paint retailers. It's wiped on, washed off, metal turns black and is ready for sealing. Cheers John Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted February 16, 2010 Moderators Posted February 16, 2010 Welcome Max...I've been wondering when you were going to start the write up! The ultimate is always to cut it out but that area is a little tricky. Quote
