Air filter set up for LS1 / Holden 5Ltr EFI

Guys can any of you that have fitted either an LS1 or Holden 5Ltr EFI V8 to your Zed give me some help on how you have set up an air filter. I've spent some time looking at photographs of V8 Z's with LS1 motors fitted but I can't find any photo's that actually show an air filter.

Any help or guidance you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

most common way on ls1 install is just a 90 degree elbow off the throttle body into pod air filter gives u a place to fit maf in

if not running maf can pod straight off end of throttle body other choice is to make air intake to run down and out through radiator support panel fit pod there

other option is angle radiator back or run shorter radiator and go over radiator with corvette air intake or commodore mouth style intake over radiator support panel

or you can go eithe one of ways i did pics attached made intake to suit bug catcher or modified corvette intake to fit throttle body both mafless

Digging up an old thread....

You don't want to leave the air filter inside the engine bay. The air intake sensor and/or mass air sensor (MAF) will read high temps and will knock out at least 4 degrees of timing (or more). A much better approach is to route the intake piping through the radiator core support and place the filter in front of the radiator.

I built mine out of some 4" diameter ABS pipe and 4" aluminum tubing.
