68GTCS Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Gentlemen, as I've posted earlier today, the electronic ignition module supplied by Patrick (CONTACT VIA EBAY http://shop.ebay.com.au/azariar/m.html) for my stock 240Z has absolutely transformed the car - now it is in tune all through the rev range with real improvements in performance and has smoothed out the drive immensely! Patrick says he has parts available for a few more kits if you are interested. He'll quote you a price and lead time once you contact him but rest assured he was a couple of weeks quicker than he quoted me and stuck to his price even when I offered to pay more as it was most certainly too cheap. I think he may have adjusted the pricing now though. By the way, his clocks work perfectly too. Regards, Scott Quote
WogsRus Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 humm which module, the 280zx thing or what, please clarify as i am interested Quote
RB30X Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 I think he is refering to a module that replaces the points inside a points dizzy making it electronic, rather than upgrading to the 280zx electronic dizzy you speak of. Quote

That's not right..The module sends the pulse (spark) to the 280zx electric dissy.. You need a 280zx dissy first. Instead of using the module on my electric Dissy I use a MSD-6al which sends a stronger spark to the dissy.. Quote

Instead of using the module on my electric Dissy I use a MSD-6al which sends a stronger spark to the dissy.. His terminology may be incorrect, but he's right.... You can remove the points from a dizzy, and retrofit an optical or magnetic sensor in their place, which is then capable of driving the ignition module (which would usually be supplied in such a kit). Scorcher and crane are two companies off the top of my head that used to supply this type of kit, whether they still do is another matter. But no, you don't need a 280zx dizzy, this type of kit allows you to convert your points dizzy to better electronic ignition than the 280zx had (not that there is anything wrong with the 280zx one), as it uses newer, more efficient sensors. I'm not sure whether this is what the original poster is talking about, but its almost definitely what rb30x meant... Quote
68GTCS Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 sorry I wasn't clearer. Too keen to drive it! This Patrick chap (azariar on ebay) did a full 280ZX conversion as a kit supplying coil, full distributer including shaft, cap, module etc. Even sent some instructions on setting it up. He gets some of the parts NOS from NISSAN and reconditions the rest. All I added was plugs and leads. Hope that clears it up, sorry for confusion. Quote
