Shahzan Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 Hello! Bought my first Zed car on mid October this year... Datsun 280ZX 2+2 with a lovely sun roof ... Got it with 131,000km on the clock very good condition with zero rust, fresh painted exterior with a reasonably condition interior which needs to be re-do... its Auto sadly for me since Iam a manual driver.... My first car is a Toyota AE86 and that is my show SPL sound comp car, I feel like this Zed deserve to go on car show as a original mint Zed condition, means a full interior re-done, alot of polish and wax, sparkling engine bay... Trying to win best mint classic cars in Show n Shine someday... This Zed is very low in kms and well kept and I dont feel like destroying its originality, I might buy a 240Z and make it my race machine I dont know much about Datsun engine for now but I will learn over time, L28 EFI engine and its Auto and still runs very good.. Looking forward to get it rebuild for Show n Shine someday next year but for now, leave as it is... Currently what I need to do is get some fresh tryres, a nice new headlight, fix my lights, and get a red BRIDE seat for driver side as Iam a BRIDE seat person not stock... Ill put back the original seat when I go Show n Shine ;D and last but not least, give it a nice full service with some fresh new brake pads... Wont update much with the progress of the Zed as Iam still busy with finishing my AE86 for the final SPL sound comp in late November and early December Cheers, Shahzan Quote
garvice Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 Welcome, you definitely have your work cut out if you want to make that engine bay shine. I know you said you want to keep it original for the shows, but a factory L28 efi engine bay is far from show quality. Even if you electroplate all the fuel rails, it still looks busy. Have a think about at least replacing the fuel rail, that tends to clean up the engine bay quite a bit. Quote
RB30X Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 or piss of the efi all together and go carbs. Quote
(Locky) Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 nice z have to ask though why are you useing a ae86 for a show car and loading it with heavy subs ?? Quote

And iam keeping it EFI instead of carby because I like to keep the car as it is... so iam fine with EFI Quote
Shahzan Posted November 1, 2009 Author Posted November 1, 2009 nice z have to ask though why are you useing a ae86 for a show car and loading it with heavy subs ?? Thank you, and for your question, where almost every AE86 Corolla forum that I join that ask the same question... my answer is simple: My family background loves sound system which had past to me, and so I try it out on my first car which is an AE86... perfect hatchback car for SPL purpose... When we talk about dB, AE86 is the best for its class... Why would you heavy it out with subs instead of drift it or track it? Ans: simple, different people has its own interest, I like sound system so it is up to me to do what I want with my car ... I dont have to follow what other people do or say, its my car so I can do what I want which leads to a few AE86 owners out there still dont get it ... at least I dont put RICE stuff in my car, only ICE stuff...
