Moderators Zedman240® Posted June 27, 2009 Moderators Posted June 27, 2009 Hello and welcome again! That 180B track car would'nt be red by any chance would it? I knew someone with a red one that had a L28. I have a pic somewhere.. Quote
Lgee Posted June 28, 2009 Author Posted June 28, 2009 hey, no its not red but i would like to see the pic if you have it, its purple at the moment but will be another color soon Quote
sco_aus Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Welcome. Sounds like a fricken weapon. hope to see more of it soon. Thanks scott Quote
marco Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 hey mate sounds exactly like the one i sold not all that long ago did look like this when it was first built the guys at bendigo undercar care with a v8 under the bonnet Quote
Lgee Posted June 29, 2009 Author Posted June 29, 2009 yep marco thats the car, although it is a different colour now, and we have done some clean up on it and it has 16's with formula R's, its a project for my son and i we are going to do a couple of motorkhana's in it, but it's more about doing the project with my son, yeah its rough but it will sorted out in time, can you tell me anymore about the car apart from the engine is rooted, i would like to get a bit more history on it, it looks like this now, my son and i working on the car, like i said its more about building and bonding, and if it goes like a cut snake then fine, my U13 does 2,01 at Phillip island and 1,02.37 at haunted hills, so i already have a car that goes ok, but he is only 12 so he will have to wait 2 more years till he can do level 2 speed events , but this will be a good stop gap till then. then the younger son will be able to drive the 180b at khana' then Quote
Scando Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Cool! Should provide you and the boys heaps of fun for the future. I've got a couple of these tucked away in the shed. One was my project before the Z came along and is all stripped back and in primer. The other one came with it for parts when I bought it. I'd really like to finish the good one off one day, they're great cars, but my Z keeps taking all of my time and money! Quote
FuzzyDropbear Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Hey Lawrence! Long time no hear/see mate. Good to see the old datto is progressing. You'll have to let us know when it's going to hit the track, would love to see it in action. Welcome to the land of the Z. Cheers, Rob Quote
Lgee Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 Fuzz how are you, we are having a gokart day on saturday if you can get down to melb 11.40 at lemans, come play. Good to see you around again, i will let you know when it makes its debut, talk to you soon. Got a spare donk by any chance? Quote
FuzzyDropbear Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Go karts eh? Sounds good. I have the work pub crawl on Friday night, so I won't say that I'll definately be there . Hopefully will get there sometime though, but we shall see on Saturday. Would like to check out the Bluey again. Haven't seen it since Phillip Island. Unfortunately my engine is in need of a rebuild (possible blown head), getting the body right is my main priority at the moment. Sorry I can't help you out on that one. Cheers mate. Quote
marco Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Hey mate, when we had it the motor was far from rooted, just needed to warm up as the carby didnt have a choke on it (might be what you're noticing). also the sss has a welded 4.11 diff under it. did notice that the front springs were far from captive and did at one stage come free and rub against the tyre and strut. other than that has alot of potential to be an extremely quick car. if you dont mind me asking, how much did you get the old girl for? Lgee Posted August 30, 2009 Author Posted August 30, 2009 ok well its been a while since i have had time to put up, the things i have done to the car so here it all is. new side and rear perspex windows, new seat and harness, 4 spots off a hilux, new panel under the dash cause there was none, rear wing just for lol's, i got a webber carb of an xf and did a dummy fit and it all worked so i too it to work so i could fit it properly and clean it all up this is the before photo, got a set of extractors which dont fit but i have modified them to fit, again at work being welded with new flanges. fitted a new electric fuel pump, my son turned 12 a couple of weeks ago and we went to our first event today at pakenham for a look, he is really keen so i gota finish the car off and get him out there in a 5 weeks is the next event.
