Got a 260Z up on the hoist at the moment with a VG30DET in it - engine mounts are a bitch. Be interesting to know what gearbox is behind it as these motors all came with an auto from the factory, but it doesn't say in the ad. Bonnet latch mount has been cut off and I can't see how it is otherwise kept closed.

Bell-housing bolt pattern is very different, so depends on what you mean by 'easy' - certainly not a bolt-up proposition.

Certainly the gearbox we have is the same physical size as the RB25DET type, so internals are probably similar, but bell-housing is different.

This car got in a crash a while back and the rear was smashed up pretty bad. It is from Gosford I was hoping on buying it before the crash. In answer to what gearbox is behind it 5 speed nissan from 300zx.

i had one of these engines(but single turbo) in a 2+2,very tight fit all round,had a 5 speed box,personally i think the Rb is a better route with more aftermarket parts available

I agree. How are you supposed to change the oil filter on that thing?
