C.A.R. Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 A mate found this ripper of a site: http://www.livesockets.com/quoc/rb/ Makes the RB into the Zed that much easier (pay attention to the sump setup). Quote
lambs Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Looks like a US site. Be interesting to know what the sump and pick-up costs in Oz. If anyone is THAT interested in using one I can get the trade price. GQ (or was it MQ ??) Patrol sump will also do the job, although fairly deep. I see the myth of the N1 oil and water pump's continues to be perpetuated.... ` Quote
sco_aus Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 I got my sump, pickup, and engine mounts from a guy in Melbourne somewhere for $700 (really good quality parts). Unfortunately I had have the transmission custom done. They were from a 200ZR or ZX or something it was a japanese Z31 with a RB20, I think. I will see if I can find his details and post them later. Natez Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 i read on hybridz that the 200zr sump and pickup can be had for $350+gst from nisssan the patrol one sits to low for my liking.... and the 200zr engine mounts from what images i have seen sit the engine a little to foward for the optimum setup, but im sure will work fine for a road car... sco_aus, where did you get ur transmission mount done..... sco_aus Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 I had it all put in in Canberra at Jake's Performance (if you are ever thinking of going there, DON'T!!!). However the only good work he did do was the gearbox mount, I might be able to measure it up and post the dimensions when the cars up on the hoist next month. With the engine mounts, I found the engine sits quite far back, more than the L28 did anyway and it gave me a bit better balance, so im pretty happy with it atm. Quote
Natez Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 have you engineerd the car for vic. what were the requirements for engineering the car with the rb25det Quote
sco_aus Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 Sadly I couldnt do it because of the sh!t air pod filter rules and i couldnt fit a stock air box in, so I did it in Canberra once again and passed easy. The car isnt even in Vic anymore, it pretty much lives in Canberra cos its more relaxed laws (and cops) there. Quote
lambs Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Since' date=' you havn't gotton my PM Lambs, what makes you say that???[/quote'] Myth is that N1 oil and water pumps have some magical performance benefits. Facts are: - N1 oil pump is identical to the standard item save for the relief spring. Flow rate is identical in each case. Changed relief spring gives increased pressure, but the same effect is acheived by shimming the spring in the standard oil pump (in exactly the same way you can with L-series oil pumps). Suppliers sell 'N1' oil pumps at big mark-ups with no real benefit over the stock pump (and the equivalent can be achieved cheaper with a few cents worth of washers anyway). - N1 water pump is designed for race applications - sustained high rpm. It has fewer vanes than a stock pump + an anti-cavitation plate. Fewer vanes = less flow at any given rpm than the stock pump. For a street driven car that is the opposite of what you need - it can actually be detrimental. At the end of the day unless you are building a race car, you don't need it and the stock pump is more than adequate.....and cheaper Quote
C.A.R. Posted March 28, 2006 Author Posted March 28, 2006 Thanks for your reply Lambs. May I ask where you got your information regarding the N1 Oil Pumps? A mate of mine came across this: http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/showthread.php?t=39978 Opinion? Quote
lambs Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Thanks for your reply Lambs. May I ask where you got your information regarding the N1 Oil Pumps? People that have actually done the measurements..... Edit: I should add that I think there is some confusion over N1 oil pumps versus the Nismo type, which is probably where the myth arises. The N1 pump is just a standard Nissan part available across the counter at Nissan and is nothing special really. OTOH, the Nismo pump offers both higher flow and pressure. It's a bit like the standard L-series oil pump vs the turbo pump vs the race oil pump. Quote
C.A.R. Posted March 28, 2006 Author Posted March 28, 2006 People that have actually done the measurements..... OK, who is that? Since there seems to be contradictory 'facts' regarding this issue, can you please provide the flow rates of each and pics of internals? What are the physical differences between the R32 GTR oil pump and the R34 one? Quote

What you believe in terms of the 'facts' is entirely up to you. The only difference between R32 and R34 GTR o/pumps that I'm aware of is the crank engagement, which is a carry-over from R33 GTR.
