zr240 Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Yer I brought a new set of 6 with rings for $225. I threw the old ones out and they were in similar condition to the ones your selling (sorry to put a downer on your ad) I really wouldnt reccomend putting old pistons in a motor either Sorry Ash Quote
kalium Posted December 2, 2008 Author Posted December 2, 2008 Yeah I guess new is usually better, as long as the quality is good. Why are there major problems running used pistons in a new motor? As long as they haven't been abused in in a high power motor or suffered damage from pinging, and you get them at a size appropriate for the block. How come you didn't use the pistons you had ? Quote

All notable engine builders will advise that it is always best practice to go with brand new pistons rather than reuse old stock, L series piston always go oval with wear ....(i.e the skirt diameter will be less than the crown ) and the ring glands can wear so for a few hundred dollars it is cheap insurance to use fresh pistons.
