DaveDimo Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 hey guys i got a 74 260 2+2 and it has a single spinner diff. just want to know did the 260 come with a factory LSD or were they all open diffs? and what type? Quote
RBZ 260 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Most of the OZ 260z were open diffs from factory. some had R180 and others the stronger R200. Most people option for the R200. This is similar to R200 thats in skylines and 200sx etc... but are long nose type and therefore bit rare and bit $$$$ but u can get a lsd variant of the same diff. just hope u got your pockets stocked up. there are few ways doing this: buying a allready LSD diff from importers or forums etc.......from these models. Dr30 RS turbo skyline, S12 Silvia RS turbo, R31 Skyline Turbo 2door import, and some early Z31 fairlady z 300zx had them too. the later Z31 had viscous type and the drive shaft wont be a plug in play. Other than that u can get the aftermarket centers from Kaz cusco etc.... but be prepared to pay. There are various ratios so chose the correct one. they occasionaly pop on ebay and on forums for sale. Quote
sco_aus Posted December 23, 2008 Posted December 23, 2008 There is also another option you can use that I used. If you can get your hands on a shortnose R200 aftermarket LSD centre (I beleive my one is was from an R33 and possibly the S13 one) with the correct spline count to your diff ( mine was 29 splines), you are able to have it modified to fit the longnose crown wheel and therefore use it in your longnose R200 and still be able to retain your halfshafts that will simply plug back in. Obviously there is a bit more to it than this, but the idea is, as long as you have a aftermarket LSD from a Nissan with the same spline count as yours, it can be fitted. Your best bet is talking to a workshop who knows a bit about Nissan diffs. Sorry for the late reply Quote
