aircobra Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 i'm fabricating an A/C bracket and the specs to this welder say up to 12mm plate https://www.edisons.com.au/rossi-155amp-mig-arc-mag-gas-gasless-welder-dc-welding-machine-inverter-tool/?___store=default&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIucDprL-G8AIVQ0NgCh0zdAXpEAQYBCABEgJkcvD_BwE i'm not making much progress on even max setting on penetrating the 10mm plate ( using gasless 0.8 wire) 1.has anyone used of these welders for that purpose? 2. are there any pro welders on the forums in SE Melb that can do the weld? Thank you Quote
0 krizza Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 (edited) I have a similar welder, but haven't had any success getting penetration with the 0.8mm wire with anything over about 3mm steel. Looking at this chart - https://images.machineryhouse.com.au/products/W186/PDF/Welding-Wire-Diameter-CHART.pdf you would need 1.2mm gasless wire to get enough heat into the weld for 10mm plate. I did try to weld up the carb linkage rod (about 8mm diameter) when I fitted the webers and had to shorten it, but ended up taking it to someone as I couldn't get enough heat into it with the 0.8mm wire I had Edited April 18, 2021 by krizza Quote
0 aircobra Posted April 18, 2021 Author Posted April 18, 2021 that would make sense, although it only takes max of 1mm. sounds like i'm off to a welding workshop ... Quote
0 aircobra Posted May 29, 2021 Author Posted May 29, 2021 ended up going to a guy in moorabin, who welded it up. my welder was far too weak Quote
