dave_hl Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Why 280zx's always have big hunk of chunks of glass as their front air dam, I don't know, but I either wanna tone mine down or get rid of it. I much prefer the look of the sort of smaller and more subtle S30 fronts out there. I can't imagine the width of the 2 cars being very far off each other? but the mounting positions could be another issue. One I like is the one on Evan's 260z for example... and the other one is a bit similar but with a bigger lip and without the chrome bumper (which i obviously won't have on my 280). Is there a chance it would fit on my zed without too many modifications? And if so has anyone got one for sale which I can try on and buy if i likey. Quote
zedevan Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 I think the fronts are to different to do easy modifications to a 240z spoiler to make it fit though, however there is a nice front spoiler you can get in japan that makes it look like a 240zg (bottom image) i might have my front spoiler off sometime within the next year (lol) if you wanna hold it up against your car, i vote you get some of those wide rota rims and put on ZG flares and no one will look at the front spoiler anymore! or just smooth off the part infront of the bonnet Quote
dave_hl Posted May 22, 2008 Author Posted May 22, 2008 looks pretty tidy, a bit 300zx sorta style. I personally like the 'non smoothed' part in front of my bonnet, its the bulkyness and crap attaching to the fenders i dislike. And once i smooth the back its gonna look a bit out of proportion with the rest of car a little i think. That orange 280 is pretty sick, i saw that a few days ago on hybridz, don't mind it's front end too much. I was looking at a few wheels today on the net too, but i'm not wanting to spend bucket loads on this 280zx coz my ultimate goal is to own, put money into and modify a 2 seater s30 when i can afford it, have space, and its not gonna be my daily driver. But i could improve on the wheels i have, some wider ones on the rear, theres still heaps of space under the stock flares, bit of dish on them wouldn't hurt either. Quote
zed240au Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 cant tell u on 280zx but can tell u we fitted my old 240z front spoiler to my rx4 rally car only had to cut bottom of guards to mount spoiler looked pretty trick till the driver (me) took wide line at motorkhana and went into the scrub kinda busted it so poor rx4 back to standard front end mick Quote
dave_hl Posted May 22, 2008 Author Posted May 22, 2008 Well if it can be made to fit on a car that isn't even a datsun, I rekon i'll give it a go, i'll just whip my one off and line up a 240's spoiler to see what would need to be done to make it stay there. So does anyone have one lying round i could borrow and then potentially buy? Quote
zedevan Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 i have my stock valence sitting here that has the same mounting faces as the spoiler ofcourse, which you could take for a bit and see how it looks like it will fit up, but u woudln't be allowed to cut into it as its in perfect nic... ur 280zx motor in an s30 would go nicely Quote
dave_hl Posted May 22, 2008 Author Posted May 22, 2008 no evan, you can't have my engine. It also goes nicely in my 280. hehe. Maybe if i still have this zed when i get round to purchasing an s30 ill swap it over and chuck a stock l28 in my 280 before selling. yeah thanks for the offer, i might give you a buzz sometime and cruise over to yours, we've gotta go for a spin sometime too. must have been over a year ago we were stuffing round with my stupid wheel/spacer issues!
