Could someone please help, I am new to these vehicles, I recently ordered some panel

replacement parts from JDM for my 1979 280zx 2 x 2. they were advertised to suit 280z

vehicles up to 1978. I was under the impression that they had the same panels as the 1979.

Q.2 To help me with ordering, what is the difference between the 280z and the 280zx, I read

that the x stood for luxury, ie, p/windows, p/w steering and A/C otherwise they were the same

in the body and trim.

Cheers All,

Wayne

No the 280Z models up to 1978 are those cars using the same style body shell as the 240Z and 260Z. That 280Z was sold in other markets principally the USA, not Australia.

The 280ZX you have is a different car, a completely new model, from 1979 onwards. Some versions - this going by numerous ex-Japan used imports I've seen - were simply badged as '280Z' not 280ZX, hence the confusion amongst many people.

Few parts apart from the engine, gearbox and wheels interchange between the 240/260/280Z cars and your 280ZX style, certainly not the body panels.
