Timing Chain Tensioner Gasket ?

Hey guys is there a gasket behind the timing chain tensioner. For the life of me I cant remember if there was one when I pulled it off and I cant see one in the full engine kit I purchased.

According to the following discussions about this on classiczcars and zar.com, there was a gasket fitted to the cars when they were made, but -

"It seals metal to metal........Nissan recognized this and quit supplying gaskets years ago. Don't use anything. Just bolt it up and torque to spec."

 

Another response adds - "A THIN, LIGHT coat of sealer works great"

 

And Phred (classiczcars) reckons - "Agreed! No gasket needed. However, I always make sure there are no burrs on the tensioner face. A piece of 400 wet sand paper on a hunk of glass, and work the the contact area lightly. A nice smooth surface will seal up great. And if it does leak a bit?!!! OMG, some oil will get inside your timing cover! Cheers!"
