Blue Z Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Hi guys, Quick question, I am considering the spool conrods for my current l28 build http://www.spoolimports.com/spool-conrods/nissan/l28-conrods I have flat top pistons with press in pins. Can you size the little end on the spool conrods to suit the press in pins or do you have to convert them to spiral locks or similar? Any feedback would be appreciated. Quote
dat2kman Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 They can be resized, or rebshed then sized. Quote
peter mc Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Why run a stock style piston on a race rod your stock rod with bolts wiĺl live at the same rpm as the cast piston. And no mods to piston . Quote
Blue Z Posted August 30, 2015 Author Posted August 30, 2015 (edited) Hi Peter, Does the 100 g per rod saving with the spool rods compared to standard make any difference to engine acceleration? Also what do you consider rpm limit of cast pistons? Edited August 30, 2015 by Blue Z Quote
peter mc Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Yes light rods help but 7000 rpm is about as far as safe for any time On cast piston full floating piston is a big help. Your not realy getting the benefits with your setup Quote
Blue Z Posted August 31, 2015 Author Posted August 31, 2015 Hi Peter, Thanks, I will stick with the standard rods and cast pistons. If I had a spare 2k then I would do the spool rods and forged pistons. Cheers James Quote
jock Posted October 26, 2015 Posted October 26, 2015 Chinese rods!, even if your HP required new rods , I would go for tried and "tested" rods, sure they might look the goods, but let someone else be the 1/1000 person that they let go on. As Peter said the stock rod is fine , I am using a prepped stock l24 in my turbo stroker for a very reliable 450hp. Quote
