Has anyone been able to successfully repair one of these clocks ? Are they electric, or electro mechanical ? Is there a quartz movement available for them ? There is a NOS one on eBay US for $135 but the style is slightly different than mne - plus it's expensive !

I think you have to take out the das... thats how i did it but it was a dash that was being sold 1 bracket and a few screws is all that holds the clock in if you can get a screwdriver in there you may be able to get it out that way , I have a working clock on ebay as well cheaper thn 135 if you interested im in melbourne

To get to the clock (or any of the guages out of the 3 small pods), you can remove the heater controls panel and pull it out far enough to access the screws on the bracket at the back of the clock, then the clock will come out the front (from memory).

Gotta say, you can't beat Alfetta dashes for getting at stuff compared to most other cars - all instruments are screwed in from the front, and the whole dash is secured by 4 bolts - removal is about a 10 minute job!

Hi

Another way to get to the gauges is to take the cardboard glove box out, carefully so you do not destroy it and as long as you have reasonably thin arms you can put you arm in and undo the screws and remove the light and remove the clock.

Thanks. It looks a little different than mine, in as much as the numbers in mine are bolder (thicker font). But I guess I could change the face over from mine. Will keep an eye on it.

I have now worked out that the clock in mine is a 240z one. I guess this came from the parts bin when they started producing the 260 2 + 2 and with the early chassis number of mine, I guess that makes sense.

I have a guy here in Geelong who is an instrument maker. He has repaired my clock. They have a hair spring which break but also he has replaced the capacitors with current day ones
