53-681 Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 (edited) Hi guyz, As you may all be aware, I have proceeded with an R31 rear disc brake conversion on my Z. I am now wanting: -To have the handbrake cables fit into their original bracket mounts -To have the handbrake work Does anybody have experience with the above? If so, I would sincerely appreciate your advice. Many Thanks Edited August 7, 2021 by 53-681 Privacy Quote

Retro Z Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 I thought you had this conversion done by Scoota like over a year ago? Has your handbrake not worked all this time? Quote
53-681 Posted April 30, 2014 Author Posted April 30, 2014 Hey Tai, It hasn't worked since - hence why I had a bit of a 'forgot to take it out of gear' ignition-collision late last year and bumped the front (I wish I retained the nudge bar).. Stock cables are shorter for the R31 calipers so they don't fit in their brackets (I have used springs instead to keep them up so they don't rub against the half shafts). I would like new (recommended for the job) cables to suit the new calipers, but fit in existing brackets. I did drive back from Ballarat so maybe the cables did deteriorate a bit as they were rubbing the shafts on the way back... Quote
benny Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 you can use the stock cables... though a handbrake wouldn't of prevented your 'forgot to take it out of gear' collision. Quote
