Interior carpet and trim

In my introductory post, I mentioned that I was somewhat confused about the carpet in my 1974 260Z 2 + 2. In my search to try and clarify that what is currently in the car is the originall and correct carpet, I have drawn a blank. I cannot find another 2 + 2 with the same configuration i.e. light Blue exterior, with cream seats. I am pretty sure this was a common combo in Australia, but where have they all gone ?

 

From some other cars that I have looked at on the web, it seems that the tunnel was the same colour as the seat colour, and Brown carpets. However, the hatch area is confusing me as the carpet colour is cream. Photos below. I have no reason to believe anything has been changed - just want to verify it is correct before I replace it. Anyone else have this colour combo ?

My 260 is the same colour with the same tunnel, door trim and seat colours as you. Can't say about the carpet as the carpet in mine was stripped out before I got it. However, I believe that the hatch carpet is the same colour as yours. I'm 99% sure on that... I haven't really done anything in the boot yet.

That certainly helps ! All I need do now is verify the Brown carpet and I can get started.

My 1/75 2+2 has everything the same as yours as described but with black original carpet. Probably could order what colour you wanted I'd imagine.

Thanks. I will probably go with Black rather than Brown as it will go better with the cream upholstery and hatch trim.

yeah don't know what they were thinking using brown.

Suppose they were the years for lovely brown, oranges etc

My 77' 260Z 2+2 blue came with original white interior and black carpets.

1976 I think was when carpet was introduced on the transmission tunnel and the bonnet vents and mag wheels came in.

I cannot remember the interior color combination you have with the blue outside and cream inside with that color carpet? (Is that original blue on the outside?)

Even my original 75' 2 seater had white inside and black carpets and vinyl on the transmission tunnel.

Most butterscotch color carpets came with Bronze and Green outside.

All the outside paint is original, apart from some minor touch-ups along the way. The engine bay is the same. The cream beside the console appears to be a vinyl - I can't get at the car at the moment, but going by the high resolution photos I took, and has a diamond pattern to it - almost like a quilt. Is that what yours was like, and do you know if it is still available anywhere ? Mine might clean up OK, but just in case.
