TBOWGN Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Hey guys, Getting close to fitting my RB25DET NEO in to the 260Z 2+2. I can get the parts that i need made up, but thougt id ask first to see if anyone had anything laying around they wanted to sell, like: VL engine mounts Custom brackets to suit R34 gearbox RB25 custom oil sump Anything else that i need for the conversion Im located on the Gold Coast and will pay for postage If so, call me on 0422878114 Thanks Quote
nizm0zed Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 R31 engine mounts also work, i used the standard R33 mounts that bolt to the block, with a slight modification to the drivers side mount. I flipped my engine mounts upside down so the locating pin sits on the top of the Datto crossmember mounts (or you could just grind it off) For the gearbox, you need to work out which way you want to go, Do you want to live with the weaker gearbox? That'd be fine for low power/stock/NA engines, Or are you planning on big power? At which point you want the beefier box, eg RB25DET, Z33, probably the R34 box? Reason is that the bigger box will not fit between the standard mounting ears in the datsun tunnel, you need to cut the mounts off and either move them backwards in the tunnel or refabricate something else. Its been plenty of times and its well documented. If your happy to live with the slimmer box, you can build a crossmember that will bolt between the two. this is what i did. It would also be a good idea to get a spare gearstick or two? you will need to modify it to get the angle through the tunnel into the cabin. I modded my R33 lower stick with a stainless steel rod then tapped it to take the gearknob and still look somewhat stock. Quote
TBOWGN Posted October 13, 2013 Author Posted October 13, 2013 Good man, thanks for that! I've already got the full R34 400hp setup including the gearbox, so I'll have to mod the tunnel like you said. Do it once do it properly Quote
