Hey guys,

I have just bought myself a set of 240Z seats from ebay.

The seats that I bought have a large winding knob to adjust the angle on the seat back. (I believe these would be early 240z seats?)

My question is... Can I swap the Recliner Mechanism from other Z-car models onto these seats?

And if so does anybody on here know specifically which ones will fit?

Pics of the seats that I bought in the ebay link below.

I would like to know what I should be asking for before placing a wanted to buy advert.

Thanks in advance, Ash.

If you can post a picture of the side of the seat where the mechanisms attach it would be easier to tell.

I'm sure there is someone here that knows already though.

Thank you for your quick reply Six_Shooter.

Here is a picture of what I have.

I just recovered a 260Z seat today, measure the distance between the bolts on each section centre to centre and send me a text 0n 0four05two98four1one and i'll measure mine to confirm that it can be done.

Thanks Scoota G.

Text sent, but the number must be wrong. The number I sent to didn't know what was going on.

For anyone else wondering about the sizes in the future, here is what I have.

118mm centers on the base & 130mm centers on the back. (starting 143mm above the bolts on the base).

If you can't find a set, I have a couple in my possession. I'd have to measure them to make sure they are a direct swap.

I'm kinda intrigued by the type you have there.

Six Shooter, I will give things a week or so to see what comes of Scoota G sourcing some locally.

If all falls through here, then I am keen.

I had no idea these were intriguing, As far as I can tell, the set I currently have are the early 240z type.

...And for future reference, I will post up pics of the swap. (If successful, & once i get it sorted out).

Thank you Scoota G,  you are an absolute legend. (He has been looking through his workshop and mates places trying to help me find what I need).

I only find them intriguing because many times I prefer that style of adjustment, especially when I don't really need to fold the seat forward.

I've decided to stick with the stock seats, though I will be modifying the foam shape to more of what I want, so this seems like a good option to me. :)

I have already offered my current set of seat brackets to Scoota G, (once I sort out a replacement set).

If he decides he does not need them, then you are welcome to them.

But I must give him first preference as I have already given my word on this.

My set has one plastic dome on the adjusting wheel missing.

Either way these will be free to one of you.

I received the Brackets today Scoota G. Thank you for going above and beyond for a complete stranger.  :)

They bolt straight up and work perfectly.  :)

The lower section is a little tight beside the lever because im guessing everything on my old seats is squashed and bulging  from a long life of hard use. I'll point this out to the trimmers and it shouldn't be a problem.

Now I need to save up for a re-trim.

My old brackets are now surplus to my needs, so I am willing to send these off for the postage costs only.

Six_Shooter, Scoota G said to me that if you wanted these to offer them up to you.

So let me know if you want my old brackets.

Below is a pic of the new brackets on my old seats.

Excellent Ash, the lever may be bent a little as well. I would strip them and paint for a super clean finish. All you will need now is a set of plastic covers that hide the mechanisim and you'll be set.

Good call on the bending.

I plan on getting the plastic covers and repainting the new brackets.

In the distant future I will have these re-trimmed and i'll post pics here.
