Jk_zeder Posted March 17, 2013 Posted March 17, 2013 As the title says I am chasing a couple bits for the 240. 260Z 71B Manual Gearbox Bellhousing (Happy to purchase a complete box if needs be, can be busted) RB20DET (R32 turbo Skyline) 5-speed gearbox. Quote
dat2kman Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Seen the light! Close ratio gearset required too? Can supply all, including machining and fitting of B bell to C cluster. The RB20 cluster and extension will come up short in a 240z shell/floorpan, the RB30 box is 50 mm longer Quote
Jk_zeder Posted March 18, 2013 Author Posted March 18, 2013 Throw me a PM with some dollar values when you can Jason. Cam Lepp was going to organise the build of it for me I just had to get the bits together, that being said depends on what you have! Quote
Jk_zeder Posted March 18, 2013 Author Posted March 18, 2013 or PM me your number and I will give you a call. Quote
PZG302 Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 S15 6 speed Nah, not even the flat brimmed boys like em, they seem to be weaker than the S14 5 speeds, and everyone wants the RB25/Z32 box for their fully sick sivias. Quote
Whittie Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 they seem to be weaker than the S14 5 speeds That's all relative. In a 250hp zed that you're not trying to drift around every corner they are plenty strong enough. Lots of ratio's for a nice diff selection too I would use it if I were doing it again and integrate the diff based road speed sensor in as well. But back in the day $300 for a 5 speed rebuild vs $900 for a 6-speed was a no brainer Quote
Jk_zeder Posted March 18, 2013 Author Posted March 18, 2013 The OD in the 6-speeds are .76 if I recall? even with the 4.6 diff I wouldnt be a fan. The 20 box is good enough for the power and can handle the torque, they are also dime a dozen. Quote
Jk_zeder Posted March 23, 2013 Author Posted March 23, 2013 All sorted, thanks Jason (dat2kman) Quote
dat2kman Posted March 23, 2013 Posted March 23, 2013 All sorted, thanks Jason (dat2kman) No problemo! Another RB 20 DET into L bell conversion done, and tailshaft too! Umm, what was the very watery brown liquid in that blue painted gearbox?? Not gear oil, that's for sure, poor thing has had a bit of a caning, but will ressurect easy enuf! Great to catch up with you all! Quote
Jk_zeder Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 haha no idea mate, it sure copped a hammering. Was good to meet up, am a little jealous of your shed though. Quote
