Whoray Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Started to change diff purchased off eBay and found chip on Pinion. Now need another in reasonable condition. Diff in car is R180 3.5 LSD as car was originally auto. Thanks Ron. Quote
benny Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Ron, If its only a small chip and the teeth are still in tact with no cracks it should fine... its not like your running huge amounts of power through it. Quote
luvemfast Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 its not like your running huge amounts of power through it. How much power could a triple Mikuni powered stroker have anyway? Benny, plan is to tidy it up for a dyno tune with Lou. Going the black/red double Quote

luvemfast Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 just a few ponies!! looking forward to seeing them both side by side.... let me know when to lock in my bet Should get quite a bit more out of it. But as Wesley Snipes says in Passenger 57........ "Always bet on black!" Quote
Riceburner Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I might have one Ron. Will have to check on the weekend and get back to you. Quote
Whoray Posted February 22, 2013 Author Posted February 22, 2013 Thanks Gareth Took it to Diff guy today, he said it wasn't worth the risk, would only accelerate wear and not be reliable. Quote
Riceburner Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I'm not sure of the ratio, think it was 3.9. Will PM you over the weekend. Quote
Whoray Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 Still looking for r180 diff 3.9 ratio. Gareth's was 3.5 same as I have. Quote
Riceburner Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Hey Ron have you tried pick-a-part or any self serve wreckers? I believe the old Subaru diffs are R180, most even have the silver sticker on the rear case telling you the ratio. Quote
luvemfast Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 That's a good idea G. Try that dad. Be good to keep your Nismo diff centre Quote
Riceburner Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Centre road wreckers in Clayton used to have a few Subaru 'goons' with R180 diffs, it's been a while since I've been there though. Quote
Whoray Posted March 6, 2013 Author Posted March 6, 2013 Still looking for 3.9 R180. Got one from Dave Jones but Crown Wheel is 110mm ID, The LSD centre is 115mm. didn't realise there were 2 different sizes for the R180. Quote
Riceburner Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 R180's with the letter 'K' on the top have the 115mm centres. Quote
