Hi, I was hoping to get some advice on what to do with this 260z.
· Purchased by my parents new in 1977 and in their ownership since
· Original/stock apart from bubble headlight covers fitted by the dealer at purchase, and it had a Holley carb swap in the early 1980s
· The usual cracks in the dashboard
· Some rust cut out/lead bodywork repair around the petrol filler in the 1980s
· It’s red!
· It’s been in storage in a shearing shed in remote rural South Australia for about 15 years and I haven’t seen it since putting it away
· When I drove it over I was initially having trouble with 5th gear, under torque it would pop out of gear, half way through the journey I lost Reverse and 5th gear. Apart from that it was mechanically sound when I last drove it
· The property owner where it’s stored is selling up and wants it removed. He has offered to buy it but I think he expects a bargain
So, some questions:
· If I decide to keep it, is the gearbox repair likely to be a big/difficult/expensive job?
· I know it’s hard without seeing the vehicle, but if I sell to the farmer, what would be a reasonable ballpark price?
· Would any of the members here be interested in it?
Thanks in advance for any input.
