Hey everyone,
Fairly new to this website so please cut me some slack.
I am looking for a 260z, either the 2 seater coupe or the 2+2, as a first car. Even though this will be my first personal car, don't think I'll be one of those raging teens that hoons around streets crashing into every object possible. The 240z has been my 'poster car', It is one of the life goals that I will work towards. But since the price of a 240z is way past a first car budget I have decided to go for the 260z which has similar looks for less of a price.
Since I am limited on money I realize that I will have to suffice with a car that may have a bit more rust on it than the average (still rusty) 260z.
The car has to be in a good as possible condition, considering the budget.
The car has to only have;
-minor/cheap or no elements that are needed to fix the car.
-minor rust, if any, that could structurally impact the car.
-minor rust on body panels that can be fixed without damaging the look of the car.
(If the rust has ruined the panel it would have to be a part that can be cheaply replaced and sourced off of another 260z or 280sx).
Please keep in mind that If the car is in a good condition, I plan to keep it for a long time to come.
Now for the important part.
The most I could spend on the car depends a lot on the new job I have. I believe that I will be able to pay around $14,000 with minimal movement to pay more. Obviously, it would be great if there was a car that was available in good condition for less than 14k. It would be great if there was one for sale around August as that is when I turn 17 and I will also have more time to acquire the money for the car. Although, if there is a deal I am willing to buy the car before August.
I would prefer if it was a 1972 260z, as close to original as possible and has either the factory or factory-like paint.
(I realise some of these are not 260z specific)
Preferable paint colours would be:
-018 Datsun White
-113 Datsun Avocado Poly
-645 Datsun Dark Blue
-901 Datsun Monte Carlo Silver Poly
-940 Datsun Green
Colours close to these would be good.
however, Beggars can't be choosers.
P.S.
In the highly unlikely chance that a 240z, that is in reasonable condition and close to my price, appears. Please notify me about it.
An extra bonus would be if it had the original jack and toolkit in the two compartments behind the seats.
Thanks!
