  1. New to this obviously - how do I contact those of you who have kindly identified possible sources of a head? Cheers Bruce
  2. Thank you for your responses fellow Z-addicts. I am away for a few days but have passed on the details to the 'rebuilder' and will contact him re the best option upon my return. Then, I will be in touch to arrange purchase/delivery - where there's a will..... Cheers and thanks again
  3. I am having trouble sourcing a head for my L28. Would like to fuel inject later hence the need for a head that includes inlet entry. My research via this forum indicates that a Nissan Patrol 2.8L head is also a N42 - if they are compatible (and that is the question - are they?), I may be able to have less trouble sourcing one? Cheers
  4. I am restoring my 260Z and putting in an L28 motor. The motor is being rebuilt but my 'rebuilder' is having trouble getting a 'good' head. I have two, but both are apparently unsuitable. So, I need a good, flat head. The rebuilder has all the other bits including valves etc. Hope someone can put me onto the right direction to procure one. Cheers
  5. Thanks for that - I have spent a fortune on phone calls to wreckers all over NSW and southern Qld for an original 280C box and pedals etc. with no luck. A cooperative Tamworth wrecker also suggested a good R31 box and pointed me to a place where I can have the mods to the bell-housing done - looks like that is the way I will have to go as the painting will soon be all done.... Not cheap, but it's only money
  6. Does anyone know of any wreckers that may have a 280Z box or one closely compatable? Still looking...
  7. Thank you again PB. I will be/am keeping an eye out across Oz for all possible options from scrapped, wreckers etc. I will take your advice and slightly modify the original thread post with a WTP prefix. I am prepared to pay a good price for a good box and or trade lots of stuff. Cheers Bruce
  8. Thanx - I read it with great interest and have been searching the regular sources in Nth NSW (wreckers/ebay,gumtree,gearbox places etc.) with no joy as to purchasing a suitable box that will bolt on to the end of the 280 motor. The quest continues.
  9. I WISH TO PURCHASE (and/or swap) A GOOD 5 speed manual gearbox to suit my 1977 260Z into which I am puting a rebuilt 280Z motor. It was a standard 3 speed auto. I have lots of 260 2+2 zcar bits (motor, 2 off 3 speed autos, dif, panels, bonnet, rear glasses, doors and lots of other stuff) from which the current one was rebuilt that I can offer as trade but also willing to pay good money for a good box and bits. Car has been stripped and is nearly ready to spray and hence ready for gearbox soon. Will need box (or advice on an appropriate 'substitute'), clutch plate, fly wheel and all the pedal bits for attachment. I'm not too mechanically minded so any help would be most welcome.
